I wonder why Montana? Montana isn't an island and it has modern communication systems, so no climbing radio towers needed. I guess I will have to play the game and find out.

that looks like an April Fools joke to me.

But assuming it is not, I'd still rather have Saints Row 5.
Or Fallout 5.
or revamped KOTOR.

According to the rumor mill, it's about the player getting trapped in this small town that populated with an extremist cult. You'll basically be on the run from them and trying to get out of dodge.

That would seem very unlikely given the franchise's focus on large, open world environments.....unless that's just the intro.

I'm super stoked about it - - but I do hope they've found another map expansion mechanic that doesn't involve fixing comm towers.

Yeah I figure that's just premise and you'll be running around the whole county. I don't see them giving up on open world gameplay either. That said some charismatic but insane cult leader kind of fits the Vaas and Pagan Min mold.

Seeing enemies through walls ruined this series for me and not enough gun fighting too

Montana doesnt sound as appealing to me as other locations, ie, South America, Mexico, Thailand or even Australia. Montana sounds too bland/predictable, ie, American NPCs, redneck villains, familiar settings/infrastructure, no real 'spice'.

Not to go full P&N here, but the Montana GOP candidate in today's special election just body slammed a reporter for asking a question and was charged with assault. He's been criticized in the past as too religiously extreme, even by papers that endorsed him. If his flock break him out of prison and elect him to office, this could just be the real life prequel to FC5...

I see there's a raw steak on the table. I'm hopeful the mechanic of throwing said steaks at people and watching wild animals tear them apart remains.

Uh oh....I see a wireless tower in the background...

This game will lag like hell. Not looking forward to it. These far cry games only use one CPU core. Its ridiculous.

Looks okay, but the Far in Far Cry usually means exotic. Apparently the motivation behind this cult is preparing for the Government to collapse. If you are fighting them pretty much alone, I am wondering if the Government hasn't already collapsed, where is the FBI, where are the Montana State police? Has the cult cut all land lines and destroyed all cell towers in the area?

Ubisoft is a French company is it not? So for them, Montana probably is exotic. (it's exotic for anyone outside of the state if you ask me...)
