I would look for used turtle beach snata cruz. In the for sale for trade forum they have been selling for about $60.00

careful with the sblive if you have a via motherboard. Lots of problems with static and crackles. Might want to try a phillips if this is the case.

I second the Santa Cruz, if you can swing the extra few bucks.

Jblondi: where did you hear about that? Ive never had any problems with cracking or anything and I have amd & a via board. Ive never heard any relation between an sblive and via. The static and crakling is usually the speakers.

Anyway an Sblive! Value would be perfect MrClemson. You can get it for around $40-$50.

SB Live is nothing but disappointing...

get an Aureal SQ2500 for that money...cheaper...

Philips cards, either the Acoustic Edge or the Seismic Edge. QMSS is great.

If you are really on a tight budget, you could opt for a card with C-media's CMI-8738 chip, or a Yamaha YMF 744 (Sensura is also very good).

That is exactly what I did last week. bought X-gamer for 80-25coupon=55, which is about the same price for SBLive version 2 OEM. I don't know if it's hardware itself, or improved drivers, but it sounds better than my old SB AWE64 ISA, and for that, I think I got my money's worth. I didn't try yet, but I also heard that you can use this soundcard for 5.1 speaker setup. Anyways, the model number is CT4760. You can buy the card alone from e-b-a-y for around $50, too.
