Anyone running Half Life on Win2000pro?

Im thinking of putting Win 2000 Pro on one of my multiple drives and wanted to know if anyone is successfully running Half Life on their win2000pro platform. I have a V5 5500 PCI vidcard, which has win2k drivers.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

what i did was i installed hl in win98se and just made a shortcut from my win2k desktop, it works great :--)

Nice Idea DAM but Im not dual booting, I have a tower setup with a removeable Hard drive tray and five seperate hard drives. Each drive contains a different OS.

Win Whistler pro

I have it installed and it runs without a problem. I play CS and HL extensively on Win2k Pro without a problem. Run it in OpenGL for best results.

Ditto on Rogues post. I downloaded a couple of the latest patches, and it has run flawlessly (I just can't defeat the last level...)

Same with me, I think I'm getting higher FPS with Win2k than 98 on a 32MB GTS.

I have Win2k Pro and I ran Halflife, Opposing Force and Counterstrike without any problems.

I've been using Direct3D in win2k with Half Life. I'll need to try using OpenGL. I assumed that Direct3D would be better, but then again Half Life is a Quake2 engine based game.

i run HL no probs in win2k pro and server, on various nvidia cards. my cousin has run it on a v3. OpenGL is WAY faster than D3D, but i dont think that is HL specific, i think the D3D implementation in win2k sucks.

why do you people want whistler so bad? all it is is win2k stripped down so idiots can use it.

Im running an Asus CUSL2 with a cbo Pentium III 700, w/256mb pc-100 SDRAM, Voodoo5 5500 pci, Soundblaster live value on Win2k pro. I absolutely must have my TFC fix once a day, and was looking to put Half-life on my win2k OS. Was just curious to see if anyone had had any problems with the game on an NTFS partition. Thanks for everyones opinions.

Hmmm, it seems everyone can get Half Life to work fine but me.

I have done almost all of the tweaks to W2K that I could find on tweak3d.net (including the background processes one), but I can only get about half the FPS (25-35 vs. 50-80) on W2K that I can on W98SE. I am wondering if it has something to do with the server installation. Is there a way to turn off enough stuff on Server such that you essentially have a Pro installation?

At a loss as to what to do next.

I run TFC on Win2k pro no problem. I hear some people say that you lose frame rates compared to win98, but I don't see it. My average ping on cable is about 180, very playable for me. Only one problem, I can't get the console in TFC to drop down, no matter how many times I hit that tilde key.

i dont know why, but same thing happened to me when HL updated to one of the new versions.

to enable the console again, i had to change my shortcut to HL to have -console after it:

E:\Sierra\Half-Life\hl.exe -console

and adding this to your config.cfg

console "1.0"
bind "`" "toggleconsole"
bind "~" "toggleconsole"

What's wierd for me is the fact that i've only ever got it to work once and every subsequent reformat/install gives me errors right at starting the program.This is 1.0 version without any patches.
