I'm sticking to current gen consoles for now, but I think I'm getting a gaming computer on Christmas
I'll wait and see how things go before I toss a perfectly good console in the trash and pay $600 or so for "updated" versions of the same old games(Ghosts/Black Ops, Forza, Madden, EA games, etc.).
Waiting is always the smartest move.
Even thought the potential hardware problems should be minimal, these are much more sophisticated OS/ecosystems, and there will inevitably be some hiccups technically with them.
But much more than that, with such a competitive start (how many years has it been since we saw a near-simultaneous launch?) and a depressed economy (YoY game sales have been tanking already) combined with low-end hardware compared to 360/PS3 respective to that era, we will almost certainly see price drops within 12 months. Combine that with new SKU features, bug fixes, larger libraries, $19.99 older titles by that time, and so on, and you have a recipe for the smart people just skipping them altogether for this season.
Sure some people won't be able to resist the lure, but unless you just *HAVE* to have a new console, by next Christmas we should see $299 bundles along with MUCH MUCH better libraries.
I'm not counting on whole lot of price cuts. The 360 w/hdd debuted at $400. Right now a 360/w hdd is $300. That's a $100 price cut in how many years?

Grand Theft Auto...
There are no launch titles that would make me have to buy the system. No backwards compatibility on the PS4 means my ps3 will still be rocking for a while.. My launch Fat system needs to last just a bit longer!

Knowing that things like GTA 5 will be on next gen
You guys are serious? The ps4 is a mid range gaming pc with a blu ray player thrown in for $400. I don't even console game but I'm likely buying one just for the 3d blu ray capabilities and it will likely be a much better interface to stream Netflix and prime than my smart tv. That and I might play 1 or 2 games a year is enough for me to throw down the $400. Sony is really giving these away at or below cost and you're looking for a price cut? Wow.
