That is very true, and one of the things I want to find out about. I have been given permission to get both consoles at launch, but I really don't know if I want to do that. I could use some of the money for the second console towards getting a bunch of launch games.
Why do we always need permission??
That was my favorite moment in the Joe/Major Nelson interview :
Joe "What about the 24h check in, it would be easy to turn that off"
Nelson "REALLY? ARE YOU ON THE DEV TEAM?"
HAHAHA anyone with a brain knows that it's just an artificial setting that could be turned off with ease. Same deal with the 'activation' for each game/etc.
As much as MS has been pissing me off, and XBone looks like a huge fail to me, I *DO* think they'll patch it out down the line. That's going to be the first day I actually consider the XB1. When I know I'm not on a timer to play my games, or tied to paying for XBL when I don't GAF about playing MP on console at all.
To be fair, you really can't say if you weren't on the dev team. First off, not all dev teams are the brightest - you can make something that is simple real complicated, real fast.
If the dev team boiled it down to a "return true to continue" then yeah, should be easy.
Ultimately it should still be easier than actually implementing it. If they put that much work into screwing customers, they can put an equal or lesser effort into helping them.
