I'm planning on building a itx lanbox this Summer to replace my old i5 750 lanbox that I have passed onto a family member. I'll probably get a 3570K. The cooler temp and less power draw (dont plan to OC much if at all) is attractive to me.

Bloomy 4 life. Seriously makes it easier to afford the best graphics card every year and my results are same as reviewers using the best Oced CPUs on GTX 680.

The CPU is only so important. People with GTX 680 SLI will probably need a 4.5ghz+ quad core, though.

Anyone still considering Ivy Bridge?

Yes, 4 of them actually. 2 upgrades, and 2 new ones.

Desktop: E6600=>3570K
Server: Atom D510=>3570K
HTPC: None=>Yet to be determined Ivy Bridge or AMD Trinity CPU
Notebook: None=>Yet to be determined 2C/4T Ivy Bridge or AMD Trinity CPU

I think I"ll probably get it sooner than later. With my cooling combo (D-14/Indigo Xtreme), I think I could get 4.7 as a daily OC and not go above 1.25v. That equates roughly to a 5GHz Sandybridge, which is something you almost never see as a daily OC on air, and would usually require well over 1.4v.

X2.

I have been using my i7-860 system at stock speed too and am happy with its performance thus far.

I will upgrade to an IB (or whatever current generation has replaced it) when it becomes too slow for my games. I don't foresee that happening for at least another year (or two) though.

Already bought mine.

To go from SB to IB is stupid. To upgrade from anything else to IB if you don't care about OCing much...makes sense.

Micro Center has them at $190! I may just grab one. I would presumably have to do a BIOS update.

They also have 2600K's for $259. Also very tempting.

Ok Asus bios 3207 for P8P67 (your motherboard) fully unlocks the multi for Ivy bridge now:

Ok guys some old school vintage P67 action!

3770k L206B314 P95 x64 stability testing on an Asus P8P67 Vanilla Bios 3207, air-cooled on a Venomous-X with 2x Enermax Magma 120mm fans:

4.7ghz @ 1.328v: ouch, kinda getting a little too toasty so stopped after 30min:

4.6ghz @ 1.276v after 1 hr: idles at .96v and 1600mhz - not too hot and not too slow - this is going to be my Goldilocks setting

What is the average price difference in the US between a i5-3570K and a i5-2500K ? In percentages please.

I thought they were supposed to be around the same price ? I thought the Intel price per thousand was the same ? And that retail prices would be the same too ?

In my country, I see the i5-3570K about 10-15% or more expensive than the i5-2500K. I wonder if that is temporarily ? Will the price of the i5-3570K drop to the current i5-2500K price ? (I don't expect the i5-2500K itself to drop in price. But I had expected the i5-3570K to be a little cheaper than it is today).

Edit: I could have checked it out myself.
Newegg prices: 2500k = $219, 3570K = $249. 13.5% difference.

no intel burn test is not the same and will load the cpu a lot harder than linx

try it out with latest version of ibt will hit higher temps.

same ram used and waited 15 min between runs

Something is wrong with your LinX. You should be getting 100+ Gflops and much higher temps. You have to make sure you have the latest Linpack. Go here and grab the one that says "new library" next to it.

As you can see the results are quite close. My guess is that each gui passes slightly different arguments to Linpack.

Currently I have an i7 890 (or 860 can't remember) socket 1156. I've been getting into Adobe After Effects quite heavily, I'll be getting a Sandy Bridge with an Z77 board. Ivy-Bridge offers nothing to me. I will be getting a 'K' series processor to O/C the stink out of it...water cooled of course.
