I just installed mine. Barely fits! Was shipped to my house yesterday. I went home and picked it up today. Have only tested with my headphones so far, but its definitely clearer than my onboard sound. Will test my surround sound tomorrow when people aren't sleeping.

Annoyance #1: requires external power connector. Wtf sir, it's a damned sound card. Ruining my case aesthetics.

The ironic thing about the external power connector is that apparently the card only needs it for the PCIe bridge chip. From what I understand the PCIe slot provides enough power overall, but the chip they're using runs off of 5v, which the PCIe slot doesn't provide. So the external power connector is needed to feed the bridge chip.

Sounds good on my 5yr old Logitech Z-560 speakers. Glad they included Surround mixing for music. Thats the one thing I really missed about my Audigy 2 ZS.

I've had mine now about a week and I love it. It sounds a lot better than my onboard sound, and I think better than my X-Fi did that no longer works. The software is not very robust, and I'm not sure if I like it or not, it's weird IMO. The one really strange thing that annoys me is the clicking noise it makes at startup, it's a normal sound caused by a relay on the board, but it sounds like something that should not be happening in your case.

I just came from an Audigy 2 ZS on Logitech Z-5300 speakers. In game play I've noticed background sounds and effects that I'd never heard before on the audigy 2 zs.

The tech report review is what swayed me to buy this card as my audigy had just died and I was using onboard until I decided which card to get.

haha.. it's not weird to me though.
My HTPC in the living room is sitting on my AVR, and they both have that click sound when start or turned off. To me, that's a sound of "HIFI"... hahahhaha

It gets great reviews. I just got a D2X and I love it as well. Noticeable difference, even with "cheap" 5.1 Logitech speakers.
