If you feel it's appropriate to suck off your boss because he's paying you enough, go ahead. I on the other hand do what I'm required by the job specification. If someone asks me to wear a monkey suit, that's the last request they will ever get to make. As for the initial question, the niceness of my things has remained pretty constant with my increasing income. In fact I'm spending less than ever because I already have most of the things I want.
