Anyone use alarm clocks still?

I've been using one for many years and now it's finally dying. I'd like to get a new one but I'd like to get one with specific features, however it seems like no one makes one with everything I want.

I've never had a problem getting up to any sort of alarm, and I never hit snooze. My main beef with a classic alarm clock is the "BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH BAH" sound we all know and hate. The gradual buildup with the selected alarm sound on my cell is much easier to wake up to. As soon as I get up, I throw on Sportscenter and get ready every morning with that on. Makes things easier for me.

Call me crazy... but a cell phone fits all of those requirements.

My Fiancee recently gave a ride to our Pastors friend. He was about 20 years old and is studying to be a Minister. The night before we had an ice storm and his power went out. He was saying he thought his phone might go dead. He then said someone should make an alarm clock with a back-up battery in it for power failures.

no phone is loud enough to wake me up

the only time I use my phone is if im in a hotel and its the 3rd option after the alarm in the room and a wakeup call

pretty much all of them come with battery backups now. not sure how long they last though so might run into the same issue as with the phone battery dying.

or buy a power bank for the cell phone...

The do not disturb feature in Marshmallow lets you set quiet hours and what notifications can get through (mine is set for only alarms when I sleep)

Alarm clock with my old iPod on it. I always wake up right away so I wake up so the same song for about 3 weeks.

And yes, I use an alarm clock daily. I've had too many goofy things happen to my phone I don't trust them.

I think very few are using clock for alarm. I am using my smart phone as a clock. But I am still using a wrist watch for the purpose of fashion.

My cellphone alarm app is pretty good. It allows you to set multiple alarms on different days of the week. I have it set to 4:30am most mornings, but wear my watch at night and use it to check the time if I happen to wake up. I usually wake up between 4:15-4:29 and dismiss my alarm before it goes off.

I use my iPad. My phone gets left in jacket pockets and stuff, so it isn't always in my bedroom. My tablet is mostly a reading-in-bed machine, so it's always right there.

My cell phones don't come into the bedroom. If someone really needs me, they can call the house phone and wake me up. Otherwise, it can wait.
