Both. The clock is my phone's backup.

Wasn't there like a string of a couple years where something goofy caused alarms to not ring on new years on iPhones? Daylight savings time too IIRC. Either way I don't trust phones on their own

Yep.

I've been using this same alarm clock since 1987. I will not abandon this trooper, no sir.

The do not disturb feature in Marshmallow lets you set quiet hours and what notifications can get through (mine is set for only alarms when I sleep)
I have a Zenfone 2 running Cyanogenmod 12.1 (Android v5.1.1) and when I press the volume up/down I can set "Priority" mode, which is the same as what you're describing. You can set only specific things (notifications, texts, calls, etc) to come through when you're in the mode. It's great; I was happy to find it built-in as I was thinking about writing an app or looking for one that did this, haha.

To answer the OP's question, I've used a cell phone for 5-6 years now. I still have an alarm clock, with radio and CD player, on my dresser but I just like it for the time display. A cell phone is a lot more flexible, IMO.

I like Timely for a clock/stopwatch app.

Alarm clock. Cell phones don't have a giant snooze button that I can blindly swing at.

Best feature of any smartphone I had was something Samsung had for a very short time, and is one of the reasons I don't have a Samsung now.

On the Galaxy S4 the clock was voice activated, and you could just say "snooze" and it would snooze. It worked pretty well too, I wouldn't have to roll over to face the phone or anything. For some inexplicable reason they removed that, and when I got my Note 4 I was lying in bed yelling "SNOOZE GOD DAMMIT" like a nut case. Then I looked it up and found out that wasn't a feature anymore. Bastards

I like alarm clocks. I typically don't have my phone next to me at night. Plus, I can just roll over and easily see what time it is.

Or do you all just use your cell phones?

I've been using one for many years and now it's finally dying. I'd like to get a new one but I'd like to get one with specific features, however it seems like no one makes one with everything I want.

dual alarms
able to program an alarm for each day of the week individually.
temperature display
at least 1 USB charging port.
date display

Date display? LOL.

I have pretty much all of that on the Squeezebox Boom that I keep in my bedroom. And it plays music from my music library on a network server and can play any of that music, including full albums, playlists, random mixes or radio stations as an alarm.

I also keep an $8 LED alarm clock with big letters on my nightstand, just to tell the time.

I was clinging to my alarm clock, but finally threw it out when we moved last year and switched over to my cellphone.

and also this:

I have a cat.

don't ask me how, but our cat somehow knows to keep weekend hours... he wakes me up pretty promptly around 5:30 am on weekdays, but doesn't bother meowing in my ear for food until 9-10 am on weekends.

I still use my alarm clock. I sometimes set my phone as a "pre alarm" so I can get out of deep sleep, but still have 10-20 minutes to rest before the real alarm goes off.

The alarm clock I have was actually a Christmas present when I was a little kid and I still use it lol.

One of these days I want to look at building my own clock, I was thinking something that has bright LEDs that slowly go on before I have to get up, and perhaps something that starts making feint sounds that escalate until the alarm goes off. Would perhaps let me wake up more naturally. There is probably a whole science to getting something like that to work, like what light spectrum works best.

I have one and actually removed it so I could reclaim the night stand space. Cell phone still go off even if power was interrupted during the night and I can schedule alarm times differently by day so I never have to remember to set it.

I have a dawn simulator and a backup alarm clock. I use my phone when I'm just taking a nap, though.

My GF does. I use my internal alarm clock. It driver her nuts that I can decide mentally when I want to wakeup. Only failed me a few times when I had to get up crazy early. Set an alarm as a backup.

I like my little Sony Dream Machine

thats what i currently have that is dying.

amazon only has 1 listed and it's different than mine, but the worst part is that they want $65 for it!! I think I paid at most $20 for mine, probably less, and one dude in the reviews says he got his at walmart for like $10 or something.

this is what I am thinking about getting now - http://www.amazon.com/SoundBot®-Blu..._UL160_SR160,160_&refRID=19BRWM6WKWFHX27T7500

doesn't have all the features I wanted but doesn't seem like I can find one that does that I like.

Other alternative is http://www.amazon.com/Sony-ICFC1T-A...1455649410&sr=8-7&keywords=sony+dream+machine

I did manage to find one that you could set alarms for each day but its no longer available. found 3 on ebay but they were used and no idea if they have any issues.
