Anyone use Directv DSL?

I just signed up and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the service. Especially looking for anyone in the Bay Area that has it that can offer any insight to the service. I currently have Sprint Broadband (wireless) it sucks so it's time for a change I can't take the horrible night time speeds or horrible pings and huge latency spikes. Since Cable is not an option DSL is my only other option. Either Pac-Hell or Direct TV are the only 2 that will service me. I opted for Direct TV with no contract, no equiptment fees, or install charges Hope I made a good decision.

I thought Direct TV offered satellite not DSL.

They offer both! Direct PC is the satellite and DirectvDSL is through the phone line. They bought out Telocity DSL.

My parents have it. Pretty reliable uptime and fast speeds...well usually anyway.

Too bad for me, I can't even get DirecTV DSL How bad is Sprint Broadband anyways, because thats all I can get

I believe DirecTV bought out Telocity DSL - which then became DirecTV DSL

I had telocity for 6 months, it took around a month for them to activate it, their dns servers were always screwed up, I recently canceled and was charged $500 for not returning their modem (airborne express never picked up the modem)after waiting to talk to the billing department for two hours, I finally convinced them that I didn't want the modem and that they should come pick it up, they took the charge off

Where are you located? That is a big factor. The bay Area is oversold in most sectors night time speeds are usually below dial-up speeds with huge pings. If it is your only option then you really have no choice I was in the same boat. I have a 2 year contract that I have only been with them for 7 months if I like Direct TV DSL i will pay the cancellation charges just to be rid of it. The early mornings are the best for speed I usually average 3000+ down and 80 up. Uploads are a big problem sometimes there is no upload and it is always timing out. So no sharing on any peer to peer programs at least not for me.

Well, I'm already used to cancelling all uploads off me on dial-up And most peer to peer programs, I have 1 or 2 recent files in my shared directory I usually just move all my files into another directory.
