I got so disgusted at being fat this morning, that I decided to try to do something about it. Downloaded myfitnessapp and put in my numbers, and it said to lose a pound a week I need to limit myself 1900 calories pretty day.

It lets me put in all the food I eat, so I am gonna give it a try. Anything I eat will go in there and when I get to 1900 cal then I gotta stop eating for the day.

Anyone else used this before and had success? I hope I do for my sake!

I use it. Not every day, but a couple days a week just to see where my macros are.

It's easy when your food has barcodes, it's a pain in the ass when you eat out and try to figure out how many ounces of chicken was that?

It doesn't do a good job of keeping your most used foods at the top of your recent foods list. This part confuses me. The 3 things I ate a month ago and never again are at the top of the list. But the 1% milk i have EVERY DAMN DAY, is like 100 items down the list.

I lost a LOT of weight using myfitnesspal connected to Endomondo. Seriously a LOT. I forgot about the app, and will download it again to get myself back in shape.

Gained a lot of weight back (went from size 40 - 32, and back up to 34 now.)

My GF logs every damn thing she eats in there. I offer her a bite of a snickers bar and 5 seconds later she's on her phone entering 1/6 of a snickers bar into her daily log. Its borderline insane.

Has lost a lot of weight though.

I use it to plan out and track my meals. Works very well and I like that I can take a picture of the barcode to get the exact numbers on certain products.

It's not insane if it works!

Took me awhile to realize that everyone is different, even in fitness. To me, Weight Watchers & all that is ridiculous - I don't want to track every little thing I put in my mouth all day long! But if that's what it takes to get & stay motivated - especially if you're analytical person - then more power to you.

Especially since there's more than one way to lose weight. You can eat fewer calories than you burn & manage it by tracking everything. You can switch your diet to lean meats, good carbs, and good fats and eat normally. You can eat a fruit-based raw vegan diet & eat as much as you want. Lots of paths out, just depends on what your goals are.

My old boss lost over 60lbs by using this app alone. It worked for him. The hardest part was staying on track and remembering to input your food correctly as possible. Luckily, you can bar code scan what you eat & cook with.

This is what I did also, and overestimated everything.

If I ate a single Jolly Rancher, I'd put down that I ate 10 or so because I wanted to be sure it wasn't under counting.

Even if you don't track every little calorie, apps like this can be great at opening your eyes to trouble spots in your diet. I try to eat healthy, but some days it can be like "damn, 50% of the fat I got today was from that 1/4 cup of ranch dressing!"

Tiny adjustments like realizing you can have a big impact on your whole day just by cutting your ranch dressing in half. 1/8 cup is just fine for my grilled chicken salad, and it knocked out a lot of fat calories.

If you are working out at all, you should enter that too. The goal is to have 1900 NET calories, so if you run for 2 hours a day or something, you'll want to eat more so you get proper recovery nutrition.

it works well but honestly there's a ton of things i wish they would change to the program/website. maintenance happens randomly also. it's almost like they are like yeah let's make changes directly to the live site just because.

We've been using it for over 3 months. I've dropped more than 30 lbs, just by paying attention to how many calories I eat...and trying to stay within the calorie limit the program gives me. Of course, I don't have any problem going way over that amount... BUT, I still manage to lose weight.

In the beginning I used it religiously. I used to track everything I ate on the app. Now that I'm 7 months into my lifestyle change, I hardly use it anymore since my diet is mostly static so I know how many carbs/cals I'm consuming with each meal.
As a diabetic though, it's invaluable because of the huge database it contains.

type 1. It has so many restaurant items in their database so it simplifies life for me.

The other feature I liked about the app was the barcode scanner. This way, I can quickly log what food I'm eating by simply scanning them.

I will give this a try for the next 30 days to see if i lose any weight. Never really tracked what I eat, so this may be an eye opener.

Meh.
I just do exercise. Tracking what I eat seems dull, ocd, & borderline insane.
Go to the gym 3-4 times a week, 40 minutes cardio & 45 minutes weight training.
If I can't make it to the gym, I do 100 assorted stance push-ups & 100 crunches & 50 squat-thrusts.
Gotta do some exercise. Even just walking.

ya, it's amazing how easy it is to load up on fat and sugar these days, but never get enough protein.

And especially salt. I don't think I've had a single day where I wasn't over my recommended sodium intake.
