50 days in and i have finally lost 10 lbs! it doesnt really show but im just gonna keep using this site for the forseeable future and see how low i can go
Dude, that's badass. Good on you.I just went on a streak of losing weight that started last year. I'm down 100lbs from where I started and about 120lbs from my heaviest.
I never tracked calories. It started when my wife wanted a wrist activity tracker so I told her I want one to compete with her. Long story short, I just kept hitting my goals and naturally wanted to eat better to go along with it (because why do all that walking otherwise??).
At my peak I was losing 3-5lbs/wk. All I did to eat better was decide that "this" is better than "that" so I would start eating "this" instead, or just cut something out altogether. I walked 6 miles per day and still keep it above 4 miles to this day. I'm at about 190 days straight of walking at least 4 miles (last night was almost 7 miles after playing soccer). I had a streak of about 120 days when I was at 6 miles. An injury forced me to not walk (excessively) for about 4 weeks or so.
It's all about determination. If this is the key that gets you started, then great. Determination will force you to make the changes needed.
My GF logs everything she eats in there. I offer her a bite of a snickers bar and 5 seconds later she's on her phone entering 1/6 of a snickers bar into her daily log. Its borderline insane.
Has lost a lot of weight though.

It's not insane if it works!
Took me awhile to realize that everyone is different, even in fitness. To me, Weight Watchers & all that is ridiculous - I don't want to track every little thing I put in my mouth all day long! But if that's what it takes to get & stay motivated - especially if you're analytical person - then more power to you.
Especially since there's more than one way to lose weight. You can eat fewer calories than you burn & manage it by tracking everything. You can switch your diet to lean meats, good carbs, and good fats and eat normally. You can eat a fruit-based raw vegan diet & eat as much as you want. Lots of paths out, just depends on what your goals are.
I used it to count calories earlier this summer cause I really wanna gain some frickin weight. I downloaded it on my phone because I wanted to seriously see how much I was eating and it turns out that I would only make my calorie goal if I ate fricking constantly throughout the day, which is something I do not normally do and have never done (and I've always been thin, weird). I'm fine with eating a breakfast, lunch, and dinner but honestly beyond that I'd be fine, though a snack a night would be ok. But I've since lowered my target weight so the goal is a little more realistic for me, for now anyway. I think I'm gonna try again but it sure ain't easy for me cause I just do not feel the need to eat that much.
Lift heavy & you will get hungry. Or so my weightlifting friends tell me (I'm not a weights guy, I like calisthenics). Cardio can also amp up your appetite. What do you do for exercise right now?
