Oh lord, I am in my late 30s now, and back when I was in my teens the dermatologists were still sticking me under the UV lamps. They've come so far. Bastards.

I was also among one of the first teens in the '80s to take that perscription acne med...I can't remember the name, it works really well for moderate to severe acne but pregnant women can't take it. Now they don't perscribe for acne so much anymore because they've also found it has a high suicide/depression rate in teens? Anyone?

Tetracycline?
No, I mentioned that. It's a cream.

sorry, i knew it was mentioned, didnt know by you.
I used a cream called Tazorac, dont know if that is it or not

The poor man's proactiv

2.5% benzoyl peroxide is the best stuff there is for getting rid of acne.

The 10% BP that they sell in the drug store is very bad. It overly irritates your skin, which in itself causes breakouts.

I personally suffer from adult acne (I'm 23). I have it pretty bad. I don't just get breakouts of small pimples, I get breakouts of up to dime sized zits.

My modified version of the acne.org regimine is to wash once a day in the morning and apply a healthy amount of BP after my face dries. I do not put on moisturizer, but I plan on doing so once I am completely clear again (a couple months ago I stupidly stopped putting on BP in the morning and had big breakouts on both sides of my face).

There are links to buy large tubes of 2.5% BP on the site above. For some reason the stores only sell tiny 1 OZ tubes of it.

I went with Accutane, which completely got rid of the acne. The antibiotic approach is apparently popular where I'm from as well, though, because it also protects you from Lyme disease. The drawback being that you have to keep taking the antibiotic, it doesn't cause a permanent change.

Buy some Flax Seed Oil and take a teaspoon a day, this worked miracles for me and yes I did try proactive and it did not work.
