Anyone using 32GB in their phones?

Uhm. Just because that Sandisk card is damn good and its only rated Class 4 doesn't mean it is an automatic win and any other "Class 10" cards suck.

What solves it all is benchmarks. If you have benchmarks of that specific Sandisk card slapping the hell out of the Class 10 Patriot card, then by all means, show the data. Otherwise there's no need for this.

Proof of engineering concept for those who may be confused as to why I'm also linking the 16GB version of the card:
The second set of charts is for the 16GB version. In other for the 32GB version of that same card to show the same exact performance displayed in this charts by the 16GB version, it needs to have double the NAND channels/chips on board. Most manufacturers don't double the NAND channels/chips when they double RAM capacity, and certainly absolutely NONE of the manufacturers on the market more than double the NAND channels/chips when they increase capacity 2x.

Class 10 cards are the best on the market if all you're talking about is playing MP3's or Video on it because those are sequential. That Patriot card would slam SanDisk in those results.
However, if you're talking about OS functions on the card such as app2sd, custom ROMS, and others; then random write performance is more important than any sequential test.

I'm still sticking to the opinion that poofyhairguy's random write performance results were an anomaly.
Saying that they are an anomaly doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong. It just means it's an outlier and not likely to happen in the real world.
There are lots of outliers in statistics. That doesn't mean the statistical data collected for that particular outlier was wrong.

I agree. I think this card is all over the map based on reviews. Mine might go belly up in a week- I wouldn't recommend it.

But until then, I am enjoying the speed.

I think you can get pretty cheap 32 gb class 10 cards at frys last week I bought a samsung class 10 micro SD card for like 30 bucks

TBH you're not going to notice any practical difference above a class6 card once its in your phone.

I'd say size is way more important than speed in smartphones.

i have my custom roms and crap all loaded up on internal (of my gnex) so if something messes up, i can reflash

Yeah, I used to backup religiously then I realised that all my stuff was in the cloud anyway.

Reflash and then all my sms/emails/pictures/music is there anyway.

Although I do like a couple of titanium backups and nandroids lurking on a harddrive somewhere.

Titaniums great if you've re-flashed and want to restore all your apps back. Its pretty automated.

I do find that with Google+, Gmail, SMS backup+ anf Google music most things on my phone are backed up anyway, but titanium is great in saving time reinstalling my apps if I need to.

And nandroids are great if you ever hit one of those "OH crap!" moments.

I've also had the 32GB Nexus since late December and my storage at present is:

Total: 28.13GB
Apps: 707MB
Pictures, videos: 687MB
Audio: 16.18GB
Downloads: 208KB
Misc: 47.23MB
Available: 10.81GB

So, it looks like we've both used about the same...

I do expect to use much more storage on the tablet when I get it as video can eat up huge amounts of storage. I'm planning to get the Sammy 7.7 tab and would love to get the 64GB model AND add my 64GB uSDXC card to it giving me 128GB of storage.

You can never have too much storage if you plan to have video...

I have a 32GB iPhone 4. Opted to get the 16GB iPhone 4S. The problem that I'm coming up with is I have to keep a check on what I store on the phone. Before, I used to be able to bring some Music with me just in case I would need it, but now I have to actively make sure that I delete Video Podcasts or else I won't have room to do other stuff. I can't hold all the 1GB games that I want and when I want to take video using the camera its about 7 minutes of recording takes up 1GB of storage. All in all, I would rather have the 32GB than the 16GB, the $100 for me is worth it.

I got the 16GB Droid Razr and pull the 16GB memory from my Storm 2 to put in it. Saved me some money.

I got a 64GB iPhone 4S and now realize I wasted $200. I haven't gotten over 16GB.

It mattered a lot more when you didn't have services like Rdio, Spotify or iCloud, but unless you stream a TON of music, caching your favorites on your phone is plenty for me.

The same also with tablets, especially if it has a microSD card. Get the smallest one unless you KNOW you are going to fill your tablet up with apps/content you will use on a regular basis. "Unused" flash memory is wasted flash memory.

Amen to that. Happened to be in Fry's yesterday, and there was the Samsung 32GB Class 10 for $34. Done!

My Sandisk 16GB goes into my wife's Captivate, and she's happy...
