Anyone using a 3com NIC with a 3XP processor? Are there better NIC's for around $100?

Does it help reduce CPU usage? I'm thinking of getting a new NIC and this one seems to be the best around for about $100.

your card will work fine Quickfingerz I have Intel pro/100's(an older model from 2 years ago) and pro/100+management(about 300 or so) cards at work and and a couple at home and they all work great

I also have a Netgear FA311. should i use that one or the intel one for my main transfers?

I want the lowest possible CPU usage.

Well, it for sure does if you make use of IPSEC otherwise that 3XP processor doesn´t do any use at all! The difference between 3XP vs non 3XP is just that IPSEC encoding is done by the 3XP instead of the cpu so basically: No ipsec on your LAN = no use of that 3XP.

On the other hand: Quality NIC´s reduces cpu utilisation compared to cheapo stuff... But thats an other story...
