Anyone have any experience with this phone? Target had them for free online so I ported my and lil rudeguy's numbers out to them.

The look easily hackable and have decent specs. I am just looking to see if anyone here is using one???

Locked bootloader means limited Modding. Has great battery life though

Have one. Love it. Currently using Liberty 1.5 and have it oc'd to 1.35 GHZ stable. It lasts about 2.5 days with light use, well over a day with medium use, and with very heavy use, goes a day.

It's extremely fast and responsive and it has damn good build quality. It's camera is mediocre, but pretty good with decent lighting.

I have one as well, mine is stock right now....I get occasional reboots, but I think it has to do with a bad update on my phone...I was totally fine on 2.2, then when VZW pushed out 2.3.1 this reboot thing started popping up.

Gonna give liberty a whirl and see how that goes, either way I love mine.

Wow, my battery lasts no where near that long with a similar setup, and I'm not even overclocked.

I can get through a whole day (12 hours or so) of light use but if I forget to recharge at night it's sitting at about 15% battery when I wake up the next day.

I do get some random reboots with the phone. I just attributed it to the Liberty ROM.

Support about 5 for work with the occasional help/set up for our employees.

I like them. Haven't had too many problems with them.

I use an Incredible.

download the Amazon market and give swiftkey a try. Its today's free download from them. The auto correct and suggestions really help out.

posting from droid x right now.....great phone, adw launcher helps a lot. Fast, great battery life. Tried liberty but battery life decreased and too many features removed. Stock + adw launcher is good enough for me.

When at 1.3ghz the phone uses a bit more power than the standard clock and voltage stats but just only barely. I also lowered the voltages across the board so when the phone is at 300 mhz, it only consumes just over half what the phone would normally consume. At all clock values available to step to, the phone uses about 30-45% less power than stock so it lasts FOREVER.

I was surprised when I forgot to charge it over a weekend and when I woke up on monday it was JUST bout to shut down from lack of power.

Does the libery rom have overclocking built in or do you need setcpu? And how do you control the voltage?

I think Liberty does have some sort of overclocking built in, but it's prettyextremely limited. Setcpu I found does not overclock the Droid x, only controls stepping (I think, if I'm wrong feel free to correct me)

I bought the Droid X Overclock app from the market by Jrummy, who also happens to be one of the primary contributors to the Liberty Rom. Voltage can be directly controlled from the app itself

I tried one at my previous job and enjoyed the phone but the screen IMO was too bland so I stuck with my vibrant.

Droid X is a solid phone, at times I wish I'd went that route vs. my Fascinate. Not as good at rooting as other phones, but if that's not terribly important to you (it's not to me) it's great.

Using one since August, love it don't think I could settle with a smaller screen and it doesn't seem slow with LP+. I have had a couple random resets but they are weeks apart (I don't restart or let my phone run out of juice generally so I get about 300-500 hours up-time before random restarts). Only during the most intense sessions (usually with Firefox or just after closing out of a game) it can lag up a bit, but its only momentary as Android closes out of a few tasks. I can generally go through a day and have 30-40% power left when I plug it in overnight.

i switched from winmo 6.1 to a droidX a few weeks ago. nice phone so far, i have kept it stock to see how it goes before i start messing with it. so far it hasnt been annoying or hard to deal with, and i usually go about 3 or 4 days before i restart it for any reason. usually its me taking the sd card out that prompts the restart, ive only had one wtf reboot i didnt plan.

and yes, the camera is mediocre. i wish it werent tho.

For the love of god, man, even if you're not inclined to root, at least Odin in the stock Froyo package!

first download here

It would be the smart thing to do, but I'm so stubborn I'm still waiting for Samsung to deliver a working Froyo build of their own (which is taking way too long...).

They *did* deliver a working Froyo build for the i500 (EC10, the base for the latest custom kernels). Unfortunately, only US Cell sent it out to their customers. I guess Verizon is demanding more Bing or something.

this is not a thread about Samsung and their shitty inability to deliver updates to devices.

Got the X's yesterday and I am pleasantly surprised. The screen is very nice and there wasn't nearly as much bloatware as I was expecting. Even stock it was very usable, way more so than my old Vibrant.

She lasted all of 19 hours stock. Time to find some X dev's to follow on Twitter.

As for the overclock, it seems I lied. It seems that the chipset has started getting unstable and so I'm starting to get random lockups.

Man, I forgot how annoying the process of finding stable voltage and clock values can be.
