I wasn't aware that it doesn't fit in the official car dock. I never saw the big appeal with car docks because of how often I get a new phone. I bought a universal mount that fits pretty much any smartphone and then use the car charger.

damn at this point since the X is EOL, not sure if i should pick 1 up since it's free everywhere. or wait for X 2, or bionic, or just grab a thunderbolt.

Thunderbolt is way better than the X but plan to buy the extended battery if you get one.

i got the dock as part of the deal. didnt cost me any extra, so i use it. it does come in handy quite a bit, but no more than any universal dock with a charge port built in to it would

That's strange. I have an extended battery and the official car dock and it fits just fine. Not sure what is wrong with your setup.

mebbe its just the dock i have. i read up on it a bit after i tried my friends extended battery for a few days and i saw some saying it fit fine, others saying they had to alter their docks to make it work. mebbe its just crappy form on the dock insert. i ended up giving the battery back to my friend, and i have yet to get my own. i havent had many issues with the stock battery lasting me long enough yet to justify buying the extended set up.

Yeah, I have the extended, but agree that it's not necessary on the X. I used to have the Dinc but couldn't get through the day with the extended battery. It was incredible (no pun intended) how much difference the two phones are as far as battery life.

How do you like it so far Rudeguy? Ive been thinking about picking up one for my wife and I from Target as well. Free Droid X is pretty nice. Looks like i can get a 20-25% discount being ex military according to the lady at the Verizon Store. I jumped on the Virgin Mobile LF Optimus bandwagon and the data service is just horrible. Testing and voice is all fine and the phone is pretty nice, but the data kills it. And being a smart phone its kind of important lol

I have the extended battery, along with the leaked build in GB. I fully charged and unplugged on Sunday night, have not used the phone at all except for 2 40 minute calls and right now I am at 10% battery this morning. Pretty awesome.

Usually it takes three full charge cycles to recalibrate after a full flash...

I'm running the extended battery and GB release and definitely not getting the battery life I was getting at stock. Not sure why, but it seems the GB release is hit or miss as I see plenty of people have better life and plenty of people having worse life.

any time you run something like that its going to be hit or miss.

There's a reason its not available OTA yet.

Yeah, it still gets me through the day, so it's not a big deal. I like the other enhancements that were brought in with GB, so I'm keeping it until the real deal comes out or I upgrade to the Bionic in June.

I have zero complaints.

I went over lunch to check them out and th guy at Target said they are rebates you have to mail in like every few months. But you pay the $200 up front. Is that how the deal works to get it free? Amazon has them for 1cent which is basically free. I wonder how theirs works.

I didn't get my Droid X from Amazon, but I got two other phones for my parents through them and there are no mail in rebates to worry about. They literally charged my credit card $0.01 for each phone ordered.

Looks like $49 for an existing account. I think I might upgrade... but I'm worried that it will screw up my family plan. A screen pops up that says some crap about $29 a month.

Lol did you have to sbf with a USB boot? Shit sucks lol.

yep

Took me 5 different sbf's to figure out what one my phone&bootloader wanted. Its basically just like Odin with Samsung phones, so I wasn't super worried.

I'm back to stock for a while. I tried Gingerbread but wasn't impressed in the least. I actually like how my phone works right now.

that's the data package you need to have. It shouldn't mess up your plan, its just a feature that gets added on.
