Anyone using Asrock z87 extreme6?

Hi, I have this mobo with my 4770k at 4.5GHz stable. However my cpu is running at full speed all the time which I dont like. I would like to benefit from haswell's power saving features.

However, I cant get the correct configuration. I have all C states enabled on the bios, EIST and even tried adaptive voltage settings. The cpu wont go to idle nor the voltage is dropping. Whats going on?

How is your CPU utilization? Is nothing running in the background that could cause your system to just run on top state?

If not, look for Intel SpeedStep feature in the Bios.

Speed step is enabled. Doing nothing in the desktop and it is still running at full. I updated the BIOS to P1.90 which is the latest.

Goto the Windows power plan and then advanced.
Under CPU, check the min and max CPU states, and set min to something like 10%.

I had a similar problem with the Asus Gene Z, to retain speed step function you must overclock a certain way only.

Go to one of the Asrock forum and ask for help there.

Solved!!! Thank you, I set it to 0% min. Now its throttling and going back to 4.5ghz under load. Next its to set the correct adaptive voltage configuration. Thanks again
