Anyone want to be my virtual gym buddy?

I need to bribe myself to go to the gym more. I've done this before with a friend and it worked well. Here's how it works.

Every day, Monday through Friday, you send me a PM asking me if I went to the gym. I can also give you access to my online calorie tracker so you can just login daily instead and verify I listed gym activity. Or you can switch between the two methods. For every day you catch me NOT exercising on a weekday, I pay you $10 paypal.

The benefit for you? There are no excuses on my end EXCEPT things like hospital stays, etc. which very obviously makes it impossible for me to go to the gym (and I would expect you to be reasonable with those types of reasons). Too much work to do, have a cold, etc. are NOT excuses and I will pay you on those days.

My last gym buddy tended to make at least $20-$30/mo or so, cause there are definitely days I simply can't make it to the gym. But I want to feel financial pain on those days so I go the next day.

So how about it... who wants the job?

Try Meetup.com or something for gym buddies, I'm sure there is a group like that in your town.

You might as well have more people keep you accountable or up the $$$ if you miss a day. Bigger consequences will definitely keep you in check. I have an ongoing bet right now with my boss where she has to hit her goal weight or else she pays me $500 - no consequence to me if she reaches her goal either hehe

Just an update on this - I've been going every day Getting much stronger and don't worry: only cardio daily, but I alternate muscle groups I lift - my trainer knows what he's doing

I do owe SC $20 though Missed two days last month.

Even better Matt, I live in your area. You pick the gym, pay for my membership, pick me up every night to go to the gym (and pay for drinks afterwards) and I'll be your gym partner.

BTW the gym will have to be one of those expensive ones like LA Fitness or Boston Sportsclub. Nothing to keep a person more motivated than knowing that if they slack off they are paying out the ass for nothing
