Anyone watch The Following?

I like the music they're using for the show... so far the show itself seems like its trying to head into all kinds of supposed crazy directions (I like that though b/c it keeps you on your feet..) I will keep watching..

glad to see kevin bacon's back! he is a good actor IMO.

NO the guy with the mask was not in the room. I rewinded several times to be sure. You see Kevin looking at the shelf where you see the masks, then you see Kevin turn around, and when you do you see the guys feet in the mirror, the camera swings around and you see the guy standing to the right of the shelf. That guy was not in the room when Kevin walked into it. Also he could only have walked in the room through the door Kevin had just walked through. So that is why it was a super cheap scare.

This only makes sense in that the babysitter had planned for this scenario, and had planned it for years. Just like with Maggie Grace. It wouldnt make sense going forward, but now they are implying the lead FBI agent is in on it. That just seems so obvious and lazy, but whatever. At the rate they are going, it will end up that the whole world is in on it, and Kevin Bacon is the insane one.

I think they are putting a lot of it forward so it may crumble if the writing even drifts a little.

the body count is likely to go pretty high, characters will probably come and go every few weeks.

so 2 episodes in, im still onboard. the violence level is still on the brutal edgy side and so far no one has had to hold the stupid stick. the conversations between purfoy and bacon are very meta, and the structure of the reveals are very Lost-flashback slow build to internal episode standalone character arc.

so long as they can keep up this level of quality and dont push the plot arc to fast for some sweeps week artificial ratchet up I will be watching.

Finally watched the first two episodes I had DVRd and your post summed up my initial thoughts pretty closely.

Im gonna call this one: aaron ashmore's junior fbi character is one of the followers. he will help bacon's character succeed in little seemingly insignificant ways in order to build him back up to the hero role. the betrayal will come probably around the season finale.

edit: also the son is bacon's not purfoy's.

in episode 3 at the end he shoots the boyfriend point blank in the front yard he drops face first to the ground, then Kevin turns around to look at the girl and all of a sudden he just pops back up and jumps on Kevin's back without making a sound. Either Kevin is deaf or the cult is full of ninjas.

so every week, new witness or person they are investigating comes forth, but of course they are one of the "following"

Yeah, after about the third episode I had the same opinion as you. I'm tired of watching them lose repeatedly due to stupidity.

I am liking the show quite a bit so far. It's a bit formulaic but these types of shows are just going to be like that. Right when it looks like they'll get the kid, the mom has to be stupid and get abducted without letting the FBI try to follow the SUV. I'll rage quit the show though if the mom gets free as well and the kid abducted yet again, like what happened in the first season of 24.

Even better, why the hell was the FBI not local. Bacon called in that he spotted the house and they're all like "Oh ya, be there in 30..."
