I would like a game like this. You start as a rookie, being someone else's partner and where he/she's the boss and you can only follow orders, you 'level up' as you do missions until you get to be the leader, then level up more and now you're a detective, level up more and you're the captain, where the game becomes more strategic as you now handle teams of policemen. Level up more and you get to say "I'm too old for this sh*t!" and retire.

I loved LA Noire. Some of the action sequences sucked but I liked the story, investigations and the setting.

There was an old Sierra game called Rise of The Dragon which I loved as a kid. It was a detective game set in a dystopian future. I remember it fondly.

I have to bring up The Dame Was Loaded again, everyone here should look into it. Don't scoff it off just because it's FMV, it's actually a good one with decent voice acting if anyone can believe that.

"You're clipp'n my buzz man" lol, yeah great game. I didn't make it past the bomb deactivation mission back in the day but recently watched a play through on YT. I think I liked the beginning aspects of the game rather than how it played later but was a great Cyberpunk style game.

Another was Snatcher on SegaCD. If you never played it and liked Rise of the Dragon, it's a must play as well.

LA Noire probably would have gone down as one of the greats if the action were done better and some of the interrogation options didn't lead to completely different-than-expected outbursts.

Still haven't seen faces done better, with Bioshock Infinite as a possible exception.

It will happen sooner or later. It will be quite difficult to create as a 3d first person game.

One option you have is to try the Second Life mods for ARMA. You can play as a enforcer, which is basically a cop. It's all role-play so if you can't get into that then it will probably not be fun. Also its hard to find a good server...but I haven't touched those mods for 3-4 years.

Yeah, towards the end I really lost interest in LA Noire because the interrogation responses started to fall apart. It's tough to do that kind of game right but it still got frustrating.

Battlefield Hardline is a almost a perfectly straight-up shooter, but you play as a detective with the Miami PD and get points for arresting people instead of shooting them, and you have a "Scanner" that you use to locate evidence and build cases (though nothing comes of it except a cutscene explaining parts of the story).

Funny thing, even in the late game when
you aren't a cop anymore, but a fugitive hunting down the dirty cop that framed you, you can still arrest people without a badge.

You are a detective that investigates your own death in Murdered: Soul Suspect. It's only a single 'mission', though.
