Anyone with kids? Medical question.

Our daughter got her 15 month shots a few days ago and yesterday started developing a weird rash all over her body. We called the on call pediatrician for her and they said maybe give her some Benadryl. Could this be an allergic reaction? Her shot location is still red and is a hard lump. My wife wants to go to the ER but I don't think they will do much.

Ya, she's acting fine. No fever or anything. Doesn't seem to bother her.

No kids but that sounds like a typical reaction (allergic) to a shot. I would start with the benedryl as suggested and if there is no improvement and she is in a lot if discomfort, go to urgent care. If she is not in pain or discomfort, I would wait and see.

Follow doctors instructions, if no change or symptoms worsen, ER.

15 months is young for Benadryl, be careful of the dosage. I am sure they told you that.
But sounds like a reaction and as long as she feels fine she's likely fine.

Which injections did she get? Start her on a pediatric benadryl on a low dose and see if it remits (it should).

If she starts having trouble breathing, gets febrile inexcess of 102 degrees then ER right away.

Disclaimer, I'm a second year med student I dont know anything.

I don't have kids, but if I had one that young, I'd suck it up and go to the ER.

15 months is indeed a bit young for benadyrl. A single pic over the Internet isn't the best source material, but they look like pretty classic hives. She's allergic to something she came in contact with recently, keep an eye out for the usual (especially changes in breathing/swelling in the face/more drooling than normal) and head to the ED if you have any reservations whatsoever. No one would fault you for bringing in an infant with hives.

lil rudeguy loved and still loves to get rashes. Children's Bene helped him sleep but not much more.

Warm bath, easy on the soap and a good nigh time story. See how things go in the morning.

no fever and kiddo is actin' normal ... life as usual.
If fever is over 102/103 and / or kiddo is acting abnormal ... medical consult ASAP ...
