I would kill for 4x10. I'm usually 5x9.5 or 5x10 anyway, so having Fridays (or Mondays) off would be a godsend.

I've done weeks similar to 4x10 and I'm just not a fan of it. I get really used to working certain durations so if I start at 8 and I am used to getting out at 4... I tend to work until 4. If I'm just doing something mundane, I will be practically dying to leave by then. If I'm doing something interesting, staying a bit longer isn't an issue.

In a former life I sold cars. I worked m-t 9:00 - 9:00 , f 9:00 - 5:00 and s 9:00 - 3:00. No days off, worked most holidays, and hoped no one came in around quiting time or you could be there another few hours. All commission too.

Unless you're self-employed or hourly, you're just stupid.

You've obviously never had a career before. A salary position is a salary position for a reason. When you finally reach a real career driven position, i'm not talking about some helpdesk job or the equivalent, you'll understand.

I put in around 50-60 hours Monday-Friday. It's not a big deal, you still get plenty of time to do what you want.

I do have a career (and a professional job). I say you're stupid because it's extremely easy to find 40 hour/week jobs that can sustain your lifestyle. I don't live to work.

I would kill for this schedule. Hell, I work 7 to 5, 5 days a week already!

That all depends on one's apirations and what their lifestyle is like. If they are sufficiently high, then it probably *isn't* easy (if not impossible) to find 40 hour/week jobs that would support them.

I would love to work only 4x10's. I currently work 5x11's at least, and it is often 5x12's + 8-10hrs on Saturday.

I did it for a bit more than a year, but in the end I went back to 8 hour days because of all things, exercise.

The gym i like to go to is near my office, and I just found it hard to get myself to drive all the way out there on a day I didn't have to work.

I work 4 x 10 hour days per week. Been doing it for over 5 years. I'm a systems admin, so it works well.

In reality, I'm so exhausted after Thursday that my Fridays off are usually spent resting.

I work 5 x 10 hour days on a regular basis... the joys of a salary position at an accounting firm...

If I had the chance I'd do 4 x 10 without a moment's hesitation. When I have the ability in my schedule, I will work 3 x 12, 1 x 10, and 1 x 8. Not often possible but a great way to structure my week, IMO.

Been working 13 hour shifts for 5 years. It's nice getting those 4 days off, but it's wearing thin now. Especially when those three days are on the weekends.

I've been doing it for about 10 years. 8 of those years were 4/10 year round.
We now work 4/10 in the spring/summer/fall and revert to 5/8 in the winter. Unless it's storming then it's 12/7.
I love 4/10s. You have time to unwind on the weekend and when we go to 5/8s, the days seem short.

I work 12 hour days...

Weeks go M-Sun
Short week: Work only W/TH (24 hours)
Long week: Only have W/TH off. (60 hours)

The additional 4 hours in the 2-week cycle are banked and we can use it to either take off 4 hours early or come in 4 hours late.

I have to BILL 2000 hours a year doing patent prosecution, which means I have to work ~2200-2300. Thats means at least a 10 hour day, five days a week, with some time on the weekend. So boo hoo for your four, 10 hour days.

I loved it when I did that. I alternated Monday off one week and Friday off the next week so I had 2 day weekend then 4 day weekend. It was great.

I know some guys who work 40 hours a week and bill 60 hours a week, you just need multi task better.
