I played with them at the Arnold Expo earlier this year... very awkward compared to dumbells...

I love the fact that on the website they claim that just by working out with the kettlebell you will be able to run faster and farther! Without ever having to run for training! Yeah, and pigs will fly out of my butt. Still seems like an interesting concept and I'd like to try them someday.

It's incredible.

Is it for body builders, wrestlers, boxers....?

Probably has some cardio component to the recommended workout, and maybe you can train leg strength with them too. Don't see why that wouldn't affect running.

I have no doubts it could make you a faster runner. More strength = more power, higher turnover speed and increased stride length. But even working out with them for 2 hours a day won't make you able to run 2 hours if before you could only run 10 minutes. The way they present the information makes it seem like you'll never have to do any running at all and still be able to run fast and far.

I think I may qualify, but I'm not a very heavy lifter. I seriously doubt those are productive, they might even be counterproductive (because of the awkward design) if you want to replace dumbells for exercises like benching if you use dumbells. They look good for deltoid exercises, but other than that I don't think they will make any difference at all. IMO there's a reason kettlebells aren't used anymore in most gyms...

Google "Pavel Tsatsouline" to see what steady training w/ kettlebells can do for you. They are actually quite popular with powerlifters, "dinosaur" lifters and anyone who wants to develop useable strength. also, a good forum for any kind of weight-training related questions is at drsquat.com

Where's the guy that visits ATOT and also runs a weightlifting message board?

I weightlift competitively and I am qualified to personal train. I coach a few guys and people etc.

They are good and a nice alternative to DB. If you have the extra £££ about go for it.

If not just get DB sand you can do EXACTLY the same exercises but you will have to hold the DB a bit different.

They will make you run faster over a short period of distance (10-50 to 100m if you actually train to run) and will help in making you jump higher. Depending on the exercises you do you will be more explosive. BUT you can do EXACTLY the same sorts of exercises with a DB or a barbell.

If your bored of DB stuff go use these.

Training is only good if you can keep to it so if it makes it interesting for you and is safe go for it

Seems like a good alternative for particular exercises, but not an absolute replacement for dumbells.
