I work for the government so the job security is there but I hate dealing with all the political bs that goes on with the job.

Of course I'm concerned; I don't think a layoff is imminent, but over the next year or two anything can happen. However, I'm crossing my fingers and am hopeful for the best.

A good friend of mine in marketing was laid off from her job at her company on Friday.

Most recent and new graduates are finding it very hard to land a good job. It's not impossible, but it is not easy and requires a good amount of networking.

In my area most all the large employers have hiring freezes, and even the state government is reducing it's work force.

We had a first round of layoffs last August, the next one, and the big one, will be next spring. When all is said and done we will go from 7x24 operation with 4 shifts to 5x24 with 3 shifts. Bye Bye OT. Overall we will be dropping about 400 jobs. The central Willamette valley is going to feel this big time.

I'm in a service-based industry. I'll probably only lose my job if I fuck up serious (like, get the company sued by making somebody sick)

I'm always concerned in good or bad economy. I can't fire myself but things can definitely slow down to a halt if we have 30s style depression.

.A lot of jobs will disappear in the service industry. Lawn services and such as people go back to a easier way of life. Neighbor Kids doing yard work . For a lot less than the overgrown kid who does lawns for a living at unreasonable rates. This is Kids work .

When I was A kid . On a good winter I could make $1000. Summer yawn mowing I made right around $2000. That was hugh $$$ to a kid.

Today the service guy would make $20,ooo for the same work I did as a kid. But He can do even more. One reason I pray for NO snow is to deprive these over grown children of these type of service . Whats good for them is bad for us.

I am not interested in making more jobs . But more efficient. If we go more more efficient ./ jobs are lost . If we don't we waste. Waste is not the ans . to the problem. I think the only real ans is cutting hours. and hiring more . Efficiency stays the same . More jobs are created but less hours= less$$$. What other solution is their. Besides outlawing outsourcing. Which we know involves child labor abuse.

So as you can see . It is a hugh problem . One if the biggest problems is America has lost its morality for a few dollars more added to the bottom line.

Its a wonderful dream from the left. That everyone should have a nice home. But being irresposiable with who you hand out money to in the hopes of repayment and profit . Is smart business. Some how the banks were forced to borrow money to people who didn't qualify . The Clinton adminestration did this. But it took 8 years to show its ugly head. Bunch of retards. These are are finest minds. LOL . I know alot of dumber people could have done much better.

I think its also GREAT that we have a president. Elected by the same minorities that caused this problem to start with . I am both saddened and at piece in the fact . That for the first time I can think of . That Those who been cring the loadiest have there way.

I say this to those people . Here is the problem you people(minorities) and your party(DEM) created. You now have !00% control . Lets see what ya do with the problem YOU created. I betting this thing is worse than the late 20's crash. Which was caused again by idiots.

Yes, I am in the mortgage industry. If we go under, it would be a disaster. We make housing possible for many low and moderate income families. This mortgage and credit crisis has affected us a lot.

Slight concern? Yes. Major Concern? No

I work for a major player in the banking industry so of course people are worried about losing their jobs at my work. The upside of my position is I am a team lead on our debit card side of the buisness. Typically when credit is hurting, debit does that much more buisness. Plus I have always been one of their top people, so if they let people go they typically send off the lower performing people. I think things will be fine for me, so like I say not a major concern.

The major crappy part will be the fact that the people who worked their ass off and did everything they could won't get a yearly bonus this year due to the stock prices etc... However, guess who will get the big bonuses? Of course the execs who made these bad decisions that DID cause the company to do worse than previous years.

So how many in your industry are going to jail . For you people failing to do your jobs leagel like . I mean its you guys that did this . NO one goes to jail right .Instead your handed 700 billion so ya get your xmas bonus after ruining the country. I would never admit to being in banking . If things get worse . I would hide being apart of banking . It could go bad for ya.

This thing has already busted beyond repair. The only thing keeping the MARKET Afloat is 401k moneys and investments. If people had access to these founds than all would know the real trueth. ITs not there. THE $$$$ IS NOT THERE> ONLY ON PAPER. WHAT $$$ is it that the BANKS lost ????? Not deposits. NO run on. Its your 401k $$$ that was lost . Look at its value compared to 1 year ago. YA the markets went down right. THATS right this is a hugh cover up. THE 401K $$$$ is gone its a LIE. IF we could withdrawl we would know. BUT we can't . THERE paper $$$$ is worth exactly what its printed on NOTHING.

401Ks are good and should be 100% controled by the Holder of the account. NOT BANKS. BANKS control your accounts. WE can clearly see that bankers aren't very smart. 2 times now in our history. Banks have shown that they can handle $$$ on the same level as poor people . Which isn't good. Banks as we know them . After this . Will never be the same . They will come out of the closet or disappear. I know for fact there coming out. This is going to get really interesting. THE MAN TALKED THE TALKED. LETS SEE HIM WALK THE WALK. WON"T HAPPEN! GO OBAMA I am for ya . I just don't believe ya.

The fact that there are idiots out there like you is no suprise to me. I won't go into details but the company I work for has not lost money during all of this. They did not make as many bad decisions as some of the others. And for you to say "you guys" did this.... no I didn't do any of this period. I have no concern for your stupid opinion.

And don't forget the fact that mostly the banks did what they did at the urging of our government pushing the banks to offer credit to everyone. No one is innocent in this, the buyers who bought what they couldn't afford, the banks, the government, fannie and freddie. But obviously it was all the banks fault 100%.

Obviously you see fit to blame people like me who first off, work for a bank who hasn't lost money during this, and second who does NOTHING related to mortgages...but yeah I should be ashamed. Whatever.

Oh I forgot to, my job is 100% to help the customer. My job if card disputes, my job is to get money back for the customer from merchants who try to screw a customer. But yup I should be ashamed of what I do.... absolutely.

I am innocent along with million of other middle income people . Its the poor and the Banks irresponsiable lending actions that caused this . Banks are stock owned your obligations were to the stock holders not to make risky investments. NO it was you guys that did this. yes I know the Dems pushed some laws threw under clinton . But that doesn't release you from your obligation of doing good work . Those commisions were just to much to resist.

I'm the only QA guy they have, so I like to think that my job is safe; but honestly, I am in constant fear of being laid off.

You never know but with our new president, I'm sure there will be some incredible turn of events which will help boost and shore up our economy and bring us back to being the best and beyond. In the meantime go out and have fun. Life is too short to worry.
