Anything pound for pound better than a baked potato?

Loaded baked potato. Everything is dirt cheap. Baked potatoes cheap. Butter cheap. Sour cream cheap. Cheese cheap. Bacon bits cheap. Green onions cheap. Salt and pepper cheap. AND SO FREAKING DELICIOUS. Can anything compete on a deliciousness-per-cost basis?

Maybe like hot dogs or something.

And don't even say rahmen noodles. Those things are nappy, and so overplayed.

I'd rather eat all other food over baked potato. Using same ingredients, roasted potato, fried potatoes, potato pancakes, boiled potatoes, steamed potatoes, or hash browns are all much better IMO.

I have to agree and what's better is the microwavable Potato. Man they come out perfect everytime.

Just last night I had a quick sausage and potatoes dinner 8 mins for potato 1.3 mins for per cooked sausage links cheese butter & pepper. yum! Total of about 3 dollars,

Also, the answer is bread. More versatile, generates more enticing aromas, has a near infinite variety of types, and can be very inexpensive per loaf if you make it yourself.

I love potatoes and they are plenty cheap and versatile, too, but pound for pound bread is the better staple.

I wash the potato, rub it with butter, sprinkle on sea salt, and wrap it in aluminum foil. Then I cook it on charcoal grill as I'm grilling or smoking. If I want it cooked faster and just want to eat the inside, I cook it caveman style directly on the charcoal.

Wow, awesome ponyo! When you only eat the inside, you literally plop it right on some charcoal? It does not burn easily this way? How long does it take to cook generally (both on the grill and directly on the charcoal)? Thanks!
