Anything such as converting a USB 1.0 to USB 2.0

I was wondering if there was anything out there that will convert a USB 1.0 to a USB 2.0. I have a USB External case which is USB 2.0 and will not work with USB 1.0. I plug it into a USB 2.0 and works fine.

This is for a laptop. I know they have pcmcia cards with usb 2.0 but was hoping to see if there is a converter that will work by plugging it into a USB 1.0 and auto convert it to USB 2.0.

Even if you do somehow manage to convert it (which is unlikely since 1.0 is incompatible with 2.0 devices), USB 1.0 has a max transfer speed of 12 Mbps (1.5 MBps).

So, if you want to open a 30 MB image, that would take 20 seconds. Ugh.

You should prolly get one of those PCMCIA cards.

USB 1.0 only provides 1Mbps or 120KBps. It is not until USB 1.1 for 12Mbps. It will take almost 10min to open a 30MB image file.

almost everyone who says usb 1, means usb 1.1

I thought most USB 2.x externals were capable of backward compatibility with 1.1... Did you just get a black sheep or is there a jumper you could set.
