Jesus. Why is this tread still going on?

She gets a haircut/color done that is about average pricing.

As far for her debts. It is not like she is trying to default on them or get government assistance for it.

Because conservatives aim their displaced Hilary hate at a new target. Next up, how much TP AOC uses.

As if 18 year olds really understand what it is to sign away decades of future earnings for a kiss & a promise of higher future earnings. As if the economy in the wake of the crash offered sufficient opportunities for our young people to take an alternative path.
I know of a great alternate path to mitigate education debt, but it requires a little selfless service. Trade work used to be a viable path to a comfortable middle class lifestyle as well.

That’s usually how career advancement works.
But that is exactly my point! Like most people with a college degree, the expectation is that over time, you make more money and pay off the debt that YOU chose to incur. I doubt that she was going to high end salons as a bartender. Now she can, and still balance her debt. There is no need for the government to intervene.

Wait, what? AOC basically won the lottery by making it into Congress. And you think that is a viable career path for millions of people with student debt? I'm sorry, but I don't think half the people going to College are getting enough return out of that investment to pay off their debt. I mean, Student Debt is a thing I would like to see addressed. Government pay off is not necessarily the correct answer and I remain skeptical of that path.

My point was this topic is bad. No one should be criticizing her for partaking in a hair salon, a normal activity.

He implores YOU use logic, however.

This topic is a joke, a disingenuous concern at best, outright asshattery at worst.

As if military service doesn't offer a finite & insufficient number of opportunities.
Twenty years of service gets you a guaranteed pension, and the ability to retire into any number of government jobs. That sounds more than sufficient.

So what? The modern military requires only just so many people.

You see... this is how they play us. Rather than being concerned about Trump violating his oath and the Constitution, we're arguing with each other over the price a woman paid for a haircut.

I do think its worth highlighting.
Democrat scandal: Congresswoman gets $300 haircut.
Republican scandal: President uses Quid Pro Quo to strong arm foreign nations into investigating political rivals.

It's the small mindedness of self righteous conservatism.

Wouldn't it be just as accurate to view it as purchasing success? That was the attitude I noticed amongst my kids friends, that a high dollar degree guaranteed a huge paycheck. They assumed that they would be able to repay any amount they borrowed, and they borrowed freely.

It still is. There is money to be made in the trades, but a lot of people fear having to lift heavy things.

People are often led to believe things that aren't true. Check out who's President.

That's also a limited number of opportunities, more so than in the past due to technological advancement. It's true for nearly all endeavors. Just because we can do more with less doesn't mean the market for more is real. It just means the demand for labor is reduced.

This is where I disagree strongly with AOC. To me, a visionary democratic socialist platform is creating a social service requirement that vests every high school graduate in our society through compensated service. Could be military or social services or infrastructure. A far better solution than UBI.

What AOC offers isn’t a solution. It’s pandering for votes.

Don’t dare criticize her. The response is akin to criticizing a Taylor Swift song on social media.

In manufacturing perhaps, but trade unions are still incredibly strong in many cities.

You guys' president is being impeached and you can't get your minds off of this young House member and how powerful you seem to think she is.

I get it, you're all confused because she's incredibly hot but also as informed by your circus media "a communist." This creates problems for you.

Seek help, I guess, but at least start focusing on actual things that affect you in your life. Not someone's haircut.

Oh look--Trump signed the death warrant for 10s of thousands of Kurds because of his Trump towers. Maybe focus on something that matters?

Hot? Really? She is the furthest thing from hot.

Just because she is younger than the average congressman and isn't a beached whale doesn't equate to hot.

But moreso she just does absolute nothing. The green new deal? Aside from being absolutely dumb dumb for thinking wind and solar will solve all of our life problems (It won't), it isn't a plan. It's like a kid's christmas wish list where he opens up a toy catalog and circles everything.

That isn't action. That isn't a plan. That isn't what a grown up and mature adult comes up with. That is a stupid child stomping their feet and crying "BUUUUUUUUUUT I WAAAAAAANT IT!!!"

Ironically when you borrow that money to buy a car, to spend it on pizza, or to do anything else society recognizes people make mistakes and offers a path to discharge the debt.

The only loan that we have decided is unforgivable and a lifetime burden is one where you decide to go to school. It’s a dumb system, and this comes from someone who has never taken a student loan in his life.

My student loans, which were given at an interest rate of 8.125% (dramatically higher than other loans at that time) were government backed (if I default, the government pays out) and given to a student with pretty gaurenteed high earning potential.. Yet they cannot be discharged in bankruptcy? Really odd for what's a pretty damned sure thing for the lenders at what I would argue were predatory rates.

Oh, please. Modern methods & materials have revolutionized many of the Trades, from plastic pipe to nail guns to self diagnostic systems in autos & beyond.

You have it exactly backwards. Student loans exist because they aren't dischargeable, that's the one thing that makes them a viable risk for lenders. The problem is that there was an assumption that the people taking those loans would have a small amount of common sense, that was a serious miscalculation. Part two of that mistake was every university in the country saw the "free money" sign and started jacking up prices. It's now officially a clusterfuck, and the taxpayers will end up eating the cost while the foolish people that made those bad decisions will move on to their next financial disaster.

No, definitely not. I agree that student loans would not exist if they could be discharged but the answer isn’t to make them non-dischargeable, as there a catastrophe, it’s to not have student loans and to just fund education instead.

Nah, the data shows that’s generally inaccurate. Private and public research universities jacked up their per student costs but all the other colleges left it flat.

That's BS. I criticized Obama on policy, not appearance.

What you're doing here is in the entire thing is criticizing her on appearance and spending on her appearance.

If you criticized her based on policy then we could atleast have a logical discussion but even I know there's no argument to be had on Trump spending 10,000 on an orange toupee every week.

Or maybe there is if I was dumb and desperate as the right wing is now.
