No, it's a case of someone improving their financial situation and being able to afford a higher tier level of service in the expensive area that they have to live in due to work. That person does not automatically forget their past experiences at a lower income level, nor does it mean they can no longer work to improve the lives of others. Doctors can do their job without suffering from the disease/injury they are treating. Charity workers can contribute to society without being called hypocrites for not donating everything they own. This fake outrage over an expensive haircut is pathetic.

Same applies to the straw man argument about capitalism. Liberals aren't against all capitalism. It's not a black and white situation when discussing different types of economy. Full on capitalism is bad. Full on communism is bad. The ideal is somewhere in between. It's shame that the new rules on name calling don't extend to trolling and blatantly dishonest arguments.

I am just seeing this crazy ass thread. Haircut prices can easily be 300 dollars depending on the services offered. She paid 300 dollars to cut and color her hair. Believe it or not that is a reasonable price. I'm a straight guy and even I know that. Any straight guy with a girlfriend or wife should know roughly what it costs to get these services done in professional places.

She got a haircut and highlights for 300 dollars. Standard highlights in the US you expect to pay 100-120 dollars by themselves without anything else. A haircut in the US for a woman you expect to pay 60 to 100 dollars (assuming you're not going to like a beauty training school or something. Often you get a wash and a haircut though some places will just so the cut for 30). If you want to change you hair color or do a full dye job it's at least 500 dollars in your typical salon. There is nothing special or outrageous for anyone talk less a Congress woman paying 300 dollars for a cut and highlights. Geez.

I'm a diehard capitalist who hustles and makes good money, and IMO this argument is mostly naive nonsense. There are lots and lots of people who are not lazy and who work very hard but still struggle to find success. While there also quite a number of people who don't have to work because they found success just by being born.
Ignoring that reality, and imagining that economic success is completely meritocratic, is just silly IMO.

Seriously, I'm military retired. I do personal training part time to keep me on my feet. I'm in no way wealthy.

And even my GF pays about 300 including tip for a cut and low/highlights or color. And that's the LOWEST range available for that service in our area. She can color on her own, but low/highlights is pretty hard to do by oneself and requires a skilled worker to do it right.

ANYONE with an actual, live girlfriend knows this.

But the last remaining holdouts for Trump are incels and trailer park trash who think Trump will make them rich so...

I've lived in Thailand for about 6 months and I was teaching in South Korea for over 2 years. My Thai gf was making about $1k a month and she had a new smartphone. Just about everybody in Korea had a smartphone.

My point was capatalism has brought a lot of good innovations and has made our lives better. Maybe it's the people I work with. They act like making money is bad. Yet, they all have smartphones, gaming PCs, Tvs, etc. All made possible because of capatalism.

I like John Mackeys (founder of Whole Foods) and what he calls conscious capatalism. It's more than just making money. You are also giving back what you've made and impacting positively the lives of people who need the assistance. His book is a pretty good read. Check it out.
