-If you are a cable user, please note your computer will not boot up after installing AOL 6.0 Cure? Please contact AOL and sign up for 50hrs free, and pay for 1yr service fee. Or wait for AOL 7.0 to fix all problems (claimed to).
-If you are currently using a local ISP, please note your modem no longer dial a local number. Instead by default AOL 6.0 will dial a designated AOL number. Fix? Unhook the phone line ASAP! Unhook first ask later.
-If you have any other browser other than previous version of AOL or Netscape, please note it will magically disappear. Don't worry it's a Windows bug. Fix? easy, format your computer pop in a Linux CD.
-If you have more than 128mb of RAM, please be warn that AOL 6.0 cannot load into memory pages beyond 128mb. It is an adaptation borrow from Windows DLL. It's not very useful to post scare tactics and anti-M$ propaganda. It's nice that you use Linux, but some of us know people wholike AOL (yeah, I know) and it doesn't do us any good to advise them (they WON'T leave AOL) if you're going to make unfounded charges.

Care to back any of your post up?

uuuh.....sorry if I offended you....I'm just pissed off at Netscape 6.0 not doing so well on my poor machine. God knows where my previous Netscape settings are, and for some strange reason it's given me a Kernel error even though I'm not overclocking. I've had no problem with Netscape 4.07. Now I'm stuck with a browser that barely run. Take about 5minutes to load up. On a Duron 600 with 258mb of RAM. Yes magically taking one stick out it will load faster and less Kernel errors...

Uuuh...if anyone is going to take this post as a serious post, read it again please

Let's get a couple things straight here...For one, I'm an AOL beta tester...3.0-6.0 and I'm also, which is quite funny, AOL certified. Now I don't know what your crazy ass is talking about with Netscape 6 and AOL 6...They are 2 different demons buddy...Netscape is a BROWSER. Can we say it together? BROW-ZER. Ok, on to step two. AOL is an access provider, which still uses Internet Explorer as their default gateway to the internet. I have no clue why since they own Netscape, but they still use IE. Now...here's the part that really got me going...Linux...You are an insult to Linux users. Do you even really use Linux? And don't tell me your using a FAT32 distro, that's not Linux. Or are you using the candy coated bloated Mandrake distro?...I just find it hard to believe that you could install Linux, but can't get rid of AOL...that's really pathetic in my book. Your post was ridiculous. Everything you said was completely bullshit. I know, because I've been testing 6.0 since the beginning. Another fact for you -- Netscape 6 FINAL was not out before AOL 6.0 so how do they have anything in common? Do you think because they are both 6.0 they are the same thing? I'm a proud AOL user, and I still like Microsoft products. I just like how Linux works and looks better. Go read some /., and listen to some real users, not lusers like you. No one puts down MS unless their friggin idiots like you...

DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES TRY TO DEFEND AOL ON A COMPUTER TECHIES BOARD!

You see, we all know that AOL is for newbies. You use AOL == You SUCK. Therefore you are only asking for it.

Well, don't forget about us poor computer techs who need to fix AOL problem installations. That is the reason I did a search to see if I could get info on fixing an AOL 5 install after doing a upgrade to IE 5.5 with critical updates.

The search brought me to this thread along with dozens of others. The computer seems to be hosed now as I can't get AOL to browse the Internet, even though IE works fine by itself.

I was hopeful that a upgrade to AOL 6 would cover the problem, but it stalls after a few files in. "corrupt install file" it says.

AOL is a valid subject, as much as I hate it.

Oh well, time to start over again.
