I saw that thing for sale at Office Depot. The box is so ashamed of the specs that it doesn't even list them.

Laugh all you want, but a PC with these components will suit most AOL Users' needs just fine.

You knwo someone will buy this thinkingthey are actually getting a " high-performance system".
It makes me feel sad for the people who will and when they try to play pinball it is choppy.

AOL optimized is about as oxymoronic as government intelligence or even Microsoft Works!

Cheers!

it's not that AOL is a resource hog as a problem with this computer...it's that win xp runs like teh suck on anything less than 512 megs of ram. AOL doesn't have that big of a memory footprint...

AOL optimized nor microsoft works are oximoronic.
AOL Optimized: The dial up users get a special compression algorithm that allows pictures and text to need as little as 1/5th the original bandwith without it, which makes huge internet performance gains, but does nothing for downloads.

Microsoft Works: It is a program. Also, microsoft does work very, very well seeing as they are the world's most profitable company, making over $40 billion a year. Windows XP is a VERY stable and reliable OS compared to previous windows iterations, so it is a huge step up, and dont you think we are moving in the right direction?

It's still AOL. It's still sh!t. There's no use to spit shine a turd. You will get bad breath and have dirty hands. Then again that probably describes most of their userbase...

Microsoft Works is a POS that is bundled with computers. Ever use it? It saves your documents in a different format than Word which everyone uses at the office. Kind of hard to work with Works in that regard.

Cheers!

LOL, from the computer description page:

Assembled & Supported in the USA!
At Systemax, we believe in the American worker. That's why all Systemax PCs are assembled and supported right here in the United States. Every system we build is manufactured in our huge ISO 9001 certified facility in Fletcher, Ohio. And unlike our competitors, when you call our technical support staff, you'll get someone in the United States. Not someone across the Pacific Ocean. Buy American - get a Systemax PC!
