I have been reading about the velocd 12x deal at Buy.comand w/ the coupon (final price ~180 with coupon & rebate). Reading it at tomshardware it looks like a decent cdrw and i would like some responses for those who have one. Is this a good cdrw or is there problems. I can get it at Pricewatch | Mwave.com for about 150-160, Bypassing the tdk rebate (since it takes so long to get your money back). Oh. I know it doesnt have burn-proof, But it doesnt matter. i have so much system memory and all that. THe only time i get underrun is when i act stupid and run unreal or quake while burning. Burn-Proof does not concern me.

Email MeFor anything. Reponses Encouraged. Thanks. Beware, Buy.com Coupon lasts till 12\31.

Correction for the Pricewatch.com Search

edit:: when i talked about the burn proof, i was talking about the aopen drive. i am aware about the velocd having the technology. thanks.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that this drive does have burn proof. Correct me if I'm wrong.

TDK is it's own brand. Plextor is NOT TDK, and TDK is NOT Plextor.

I own a Plexwrtier 8-4-32, and haven't had any probs. I purchased Plextor because of it's name, and greatness. But the TDK is damn great. I haven't used it, but from reviews and what I've read, the TDK is the total package. It has the best software, and the Burn-Proof technology. You may not like it, or may not use it, but might as well have it. The price that you talked about wasn't enough to matter. TDK is great, and the AOpen may be also... but it is better to stick with what you know. The TDK has Nero (as previously stated) and other great Audio utilities. The only downfall that I have for it, the blue tray... ugh.

Anywho, TDK is the best IDE CDRW out there, bottom line.

Yes, zerogear, they all use Sanyo's burnproof on their drives but Sanyo doesn't make the drives for them.

And, from what some very knowledgeable and wise people have said, the TDK drive has the exact same insides as the Plextor.
