For all those that have taken in I was wondering how hard it was and if anyone has book recommendations to study from. I am currently enrolled in the IB system which teaches to the IB test rather than the AP, but I want to take the AB Calculus exam as well as it is more widely accepted for credit.

I made a 5 on a practice exam before i even attempted to study for it. I also only had a ti-83. If you have a ti-89 and study for it you should be fine. I didn't use any study guides...

My friend got an A in the class and a 1 on the test. I think she must have cheated along the way or something.

Uhm, you can't use a TI-89 on the test and using one to study will probably hurt more then help you.

Thank you for your responses. I have some further questions:

Does the test lean heavily into any specific subject matter? Like diffrentiation or integration? Or is it pretty evenly spread out?

Study guides? Any suggested ones?

AFAIK, you can use the 89. We can use it for the AP Calc BC test when it comes up. I think the rules state that any calculator can be used as long as it doesn't have a QWERTY keyboard.

you really don't need a calculator, and none of the equations they give you can be integrated by the ti89...they're not that dumb. just do as many problems as you can to prepare and you should be fine.

my teacher gave us loads of AP tests from previous years as assignments to help us study and gave us the keys so we could grade each other's work... for about the 8th year in a row, the entire class got 5's

I must be the only moron here. I got A's in the class, and a 4 on the test. From what I recall it wasn't all that bad, like someone else said, if you paid attention in class you should be fine.

The AB isn't too bad, and it's so heavily curved that you could miss a thrird of the problems and still get a 5. The BC is even easier, though, as they assume you know nothing about the additional material and they curve it even more heavily (you can get half wrong).

From my little town of hickville i mustve been in the dumbest class taking the AP Test. We were an unmotivated group. If it wasn't for my love of math I wouldve had the low scores like the rest of the class. But, the thing I cared most about was that passing the AP test got me out of sitting through an even more brainless college algebra class with even more brainless people. Good luck on the test. Just take a bunch of previous AP practice tests and you'll be fine.

If you're in an IB curriculum you should be able to easily get a 5 on the BC test
