Apt #1: $2250 / month 2 bed, 1 bath and they're raising it to 2550 for the next ppl (http://www.panoramicmanagement.com/vacancies/) LAFFFfffffffff, but it's a new place (Aug 2004) and everything is new, relatively good. New building, good insulation, you can't hear pppl party, good security

looks like under 700 sq. ft to me.... http://www.panoramicmanagement.com/buildings/bachenheimer/206.php

Apt #2: $1490 / month 2 bed, 1 bath... definitely an older place... old building, careful about walking too loud, you can hear ppl, cheaper and I get my own room.

It's definitely a bigger place, maybe around 800 sq ft?

Go ahead and beat my rent prices if you can.. maybe if u live in SF or NYC..

Not really? IF you take rich neighborhoods like Cupertino where apartments are building en masse (you can't really find apartments in Saratoga), 2 bedrooms are under $2000.

$1490 is a really crappy place compared to my $2250 place. So given that most other neighborhoods in the bay area have cheaper housing than Cupertino (Exception: Palo Alto, SF, Menlo Park, Saratoga, Los Altos, Los Gatos), I'm pretty much living at a ripoff place...

Sounds a lot like what I have:

A 1 bedroom quad unit in Corvallis, OR for $199/MO in the summer, and $335 a month during the school year.

The good part?

All utilities are paid, which means..... Free AC in the summer! That b!tch is on 8-10 hours a day, keeping my room at a nice 70 degrees, even when I'm not there!

Got a great deal because of my employer.

$995/mo. + utilities (all of 'em) for a 750 sq ft 1 bedroom. Not cheap, but it's a nice apartment complex in a nice city (Columbia, MD for those familiar with the Baltimore Washington area). I could get more apartment for less money, but the location is more important to me.

edit: this is severly UNDER market value for the area, BTW. we have a nice old lady landlord who feels guilty if she charges what the apartment is worth. but don't let that fool you. it's not a nice apartment. it's just THAT expensive to live here.

What part? I used to live in the Pismo Beach area.
