It's infinitely better when you play with friends. I'm no apologist but I had fun with my five hours.

This is true of just about any MMO...

-I found the character customization and design parts pretty cool. I wouldn't be surprise to see companies use this game to advertise their products [logo a car and "pay" an employee to drive it around the city all day - perhaps giving away coupon codes for discounts and free stuff]
-Auction House - looks like you can sell items you design - wonder if you can use the "game credits" to purchase "game time".
-Driving is ok..unless you want to turn - then it relies upon pulling the handbrake else it feels like the wheels are limited to 10 degree turning angles.
- Haven't tried combat yet - from the descriptions - it sounds like the annoying old school bunny hop routine.

Different MMO - not sure how well it will do since there aren't any orcs, elves, spaceships, or lightsabers...

ENOUGH with the multiplayer, already, god damn.

lovin it so far. the limited graphics options kinda sucks... it's built on unreal3 engine... but you can't edit any of the ini's because the server overwrites them to defaults.

Did you try denying write permission in the filesystem? Not just setting read-only, but actually denying the filesystem write access?

Took some time to think about APB, and I don't think this would be very fun alone .. when I was LANing, and playing with a few others, it was a huge blast, but alone ... I felt pretty bored of it.

Skip the tutorial - if you know how to get quests and go from point a-b, then you know how to play the game. Also - try being a criminal - it seems to drop you into the war zone where the good cop drops you into a safe zone [at least it did for me].

Character customization is there - but it's a bit unintuitive - you have to left click and move the mouse to change something [ie: body shape - select what type of body, then move the mouse over your character and hold left click move mouse either left/right or up/down] - if you're making facial changes - you'll have to zoom in to see the changes.

Car handling - yeah.. I accidentally ran into quite a lot of people last night - funny to hear them honk their horns [left mouse click].

If you have a group of friends to play with - this is definitely a fun game - find a car, one driver while the others stick their heads out the windows and spray bullets...

Just because someone doesn't like multiplayer games doesn't make them anti social. I don't like socializing over video games. I'd much rather have face time. Besides, what percentage of the people out there in these games is worth socializing with?

It's true - I was playing with my brother last night and even just the two of us had a great time. I can see how the shooting mechanics would get old though and if I'm going to pick this up, it's going two be two weeks after release when it goes on sale for $29.99.

Its a fun game and it is great to play with friends but I just worry they spent so much time on customization (cars, tats, clothes, music) that there really isn't 10/month worth of actual content.

I do plan on getting this tho.

FWIW, they added another 5 hours to everyone's account.

I should also mention that early returns indicate that the community for this game is *terrible.* Like, if Shadowbane threw up on DOTA - that's what you'd get, community-wise for this thing. PVP games do not a decent community make.

I'm in the beta event and I have to say this game is a breath of fresh air. Playing with friends, it's a new experience that I haven't seen in other mmos. I would buy it, but I'll wait for the price to go down because I've bought many mmos at full price and I feel the full box price isn't worth it for me due to limited funds and that I don't usually commit to mmos for too long.

Something just rubs me the wrong way about paying a monthly fee for a game. Is it really worth double, triple, or more than other games?

Nah, they had been playing throughout the whole beta (EU or otherwise)...had to be. Decked out everything.

50 hours comes with the game- that is enough for me, I might never go past it- but I can buy another 20 hours or so (That as I gather won't expire..if they do fuck that) and have them sit there just in case I don't play (which is why I hate buying monthly subs).

I think that lag stuff may have helped...but it was very minimal. Driving lag is still there, but I'm used to that. I am still pissed that they haven't really done matching correctly- don't put a bunch of noobs against a full fledged team with expensive guns and grenades after not telling us anything. Plus I kicked a guy from a group, he came back somehow, kicked again, he remained in the list but I couldn't see him in the kick list...

I'll buy the game, but I do hope they make improvements on it...

Here are some screens. Interface isn't that cluttered to me, but it might look that way to some. That car with Boss decals is one I customized myself- it is the base car people get when they start.

The servers have been fine actually, There hasn't noticed any downtime or lag due to servers at all...There have been problems with the game in regards to account activation and the client. Steam users are unable to play using their clients they downloaded off steam. I had trouble installing the game myself. Many people didn't receive their time they were supposed to get at release at 9pm pst last night. other than that the game has been fun. Only thing I have against the gameplay is some balance issues with the weapons.
