On Black Friday COMPUSA is selling this baby for $149.99... and there are times when I've seen this UPS for ~135 (mine cost me $143.99). This is not a hot deal!

Anyone know if you can completely disable the audible alarm like on some other APC units? I fvcking hate the goddamn alarms on almost all UPSs.

I have one of these that I got about 1 1/2 years ago from Compusa for $99 after rebate. Good quality UPS. For business, the smart series is better, but this is a quality unit.

damn, 3.7/min runtime at full load? That's pretty bad. If you had a server that used this much juice, it probably wouldn't shutdown that fast. My server takes 3 minutes just to cache-out the SQL database.

Battery Backup with Tower or Horizontal Form Factor (1500VA) $119.99 with belkin coupon
One of the filthiest UPS I've ever used. Belkin's support sucks, and their replacement batteries are hard to find. APC maybe a bit more expensive, but it does provide better (if not the best) service and parts. This unit has the capability to morph into a dual battery unit... if you look at this link: http://www.apc.com/products/family/index.cfm?id=23, you can see how you can add an additional battery pack to make it give you more backup time. Moreover the Belkin unit's outlet layout is totally fvcked up... good luck plugging in your peripherals.

Actually I'm quite pleased with my 2 Belkin's UPSs but I do believe the 12345 friends and family deal is dead.

Where in the world are you getting that 3.7 min runtime number? I have 2 of these personally. I get 23 minutes on the one connected to a P4C 3.0 GHz, 2 gig RAM, 2x 300GB Seagate, 2x200GB WD, ATI AIW9800 Pro, Creative SB HD Platinum, a 21" Hitachi monitor, a motorola cable modem, and a Linksys 802.11b/g wireless router.

Only 3 UPS in the Smart UPS line have higher numbers. Weighs 53 lbs., six power ports, lifetime $150k attached equipment protection. Retail is around $500.

This UPS is discontinued. It doesn't have network (RJ-45) connectivity. I fried my mobo last year during IVAN via the network jack. Everything else was connected to the UPS. Surges and Spikes can travel through your mobo's NIC - if one component gets the surge, be sure the ones surrounding it will likely get it, too. SO if you care for your equipment, and have high speed internet, buy an UPS that has network connectivity support. I live the lightning capital of the world, and hence can't compromise my $400 video card, the data on my HD, or my beautiful Gateway WS panel.

I got the APC Back UPS 1500 XS from CompUSA for $119 AR last year. Worth every penny. Saved my a$$ on numerous occasions. True it doesn't have RJ-45 protection but I've had all sorts of major electrical problems -- such as rapid fire brownouts -- and this puppy did it's job. It has a USB connection so you can also monitor the voltage and see exactly how much power you're using and check logs.
