While they last the APC Backup Pro 1100 is available for only $124.xx at Sam's Club.

The discontinued 1100's were $454 last year &amp; are the same as the current Pro 1000's except that they use the old RS232 serial interface, instead of the newer USB interface and they ship with the older PowerChute plus software, however you can down load &amp; run the latest PowerChute Business Edition from < http://www.apc.com > at no charge. As an extra bonus these also qualify for the APC Upgrade Program.

I have 3 &amp; I love them.

Can the internal speaker/alarm be disabled completely from APC's software? It seems like about 1/2 of the APCs can have disabled alarms and the other 1/2 cannot be disabled. I am sick of my apartment turning into an annoying beepfest when the power goes out..

I don't actually know, even though I own one of these puppies... and I go to school a mile away from APC. And my friend works there.

But... I do know that Sam's Club always sold the units for $124, or at least has been selling them for two years now at that price. But yet... still a good deal.... just not a new deal. The whole "discontinued... hurry!" thing may make you finally get up and go get one.

Yeah, but then your old 300mhz box gets properly shutdown...and your newer box just gets turned off. hehe

Good UPS, the only bad thing to say about them is they tend to buzz, very annoying if you're trying to sleep in the same room. You can get used though.
