I thought i read once that this DVD player does progressive scan. Is this a fact?

If you read the reviews on Amazon..... There is a lot of people mentioning skipping and freezing...... I hope this isn't going to be a problem.

ok i visited comp usa today....first time i saw a dvd player section in the store...looked athe shelves and saw the apex 3201 ...man this thing looks sweet. the fit and finish is way better than the ad 1500 or ad1000 crap that CC sells. the unit has svideo as well as component video out ...it also has optical out and spdif/coax digital audio out. looked at the shelf below and found none of the boxes stacked beneath the player...worried that my ferengi brothern have already struck ..i wave to the salesman and ask if they have any more .he points me to a huge pile of these things stacked in the aisle ( like they normally do when things are on sale) . I pick up one and start to leave..this sales man waves to me and says ...i would really wait until tommorow to get that. theres a 20$ instant rebate and 30$ mail in rebate he goes. ok i say and i ask him why cant i get it now and pricematch tommorow...he goes the rebate wont work...come back tommorow at 9 and pick them up...we have a decent no in stock. no empty handed walk out of the store.

I ll be there tommorow morn and pick one up. so listen up this is an amazing player for the price and well worth the 80 doallars let alone 50 after the rebate...as we all know compusa is suck with rebates.

a reminder: apex dvd player auctions are banned on ebay ,at least most of them so those who think they ll make a quick buck might let this pass.

Wait a minute!!!!! When does the instant rebate and rebate start??? Saturday the 6th, or Sunday the 7th?? You said the clerk said "tomorrow" when today is Friday (or was Friday, since it's already Saturday morning when I post this).

the rebate form posted above states that the rebate is in effect beginning April 6; tomorrow.

I think tomorrow = Sunday in his post, although it is remotely possible that the rebate does start Saturday (many CompUSA forms do, although the sale price (=instant rebate) generally does not). I would have bought it anyway, and just gone back at your leisure during the week and gotten them to do a price adjustment and get a properly dated receipt. It's especially easy to do when the new selling price is lower since they have to re-ring it for the refund anyway.

Most CompUSA rebate forms do begin on Saturday, for reasons unknown to me. However, the "instant rebate" portion of the sale typically does not kick in until Sunday.

i meant saturday...which is unusual because all compusa weekly promotions start sunday. but the salesman told me saturday and after looking at the rebate form i think it may start today. i am going upthere in a couple of hrs ..i ll let you know how it goes.

Sweet deal, thanks for the rebate link. A friend of mine bought a 3201 some months back and I "hacked" it for him (read: PRESSED A FEW BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE ;-)
He did have some problems with skipping, and he did return the unit..but Apex stuff is hit and miss, due to poor quality control. If you get catch a bad one, throw it back and fish for a new box of the same model.

ok just got back from cusa...the sale has already started here in salt lake city. the flyer shows the dvd player on the first page...doesnt say any thing about it being available tommorow..so go get yours today !

the 3201 rang up with the instant rebate ..at 79.. picked up the rebate form and a sandisk 64 mb memory stick for 35 and 15 $mir and was otta there.

Just got back from the Monrovia, CA CompUSA. They swear it won't start unti ltomorrow, and would not even release the rebate form. So I couldn't check the form to see if it indeed started today, and didn't bother to check the SKU.

Oh well... will be back again tomorrow.

Rang up at $99.99 at the Mountlake Terrace, WA store. The cashier said that if it goes on sale tomorrow (they didn't have any flyers) they would honor the new price, so I picked one up. I'll head back tomorrow to get my $20.

Rang up @ $99.99 big one's in southern Michigan, I picked one up and will just go back tomarrow for the price adjustment.
You know they will all be gone tomarrow within one hour of store opening up..

This thing plays pretty good, But I can not figure out a way to hook it to my VCR. Anyone got any links for some tips?

Edit: One problem the volume is very low, gotta turn up the TV almost all the way
