I don't know if this is available again or it has been at this price since April, but I got an email 05/07 promoting the APX AD1200 for $64.99. Supports DVD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3, Video CD, SVCD, HDCD, KODAK Picture CD.

Does anyone know if you can disable Macrovision? vcdhelp.com isn't clear if the hack works or not.

i have this machine when circuit city were selling them for 69.99. haven't tried disabling macro vision but you can make it region free.

I have one of these -

There is a hidden menu that allows you to change regions, and switch macrovision on & off, but the macrovision switch is ignored by the player - whatever you set it to, macrovision is always ON for copy-protected DVD's.

Still a damn good player for $65 though. MP3's, VCDs, etc. play perfectly...

Has anyone found a hack to make the Amazon Apex AD-1600 regionfree and disable macromedia vision? I know there was one floating out there I think. Link would be appreciated

The current AD-1200's at Circuit City with v2.13 don't have the menu to change the region, so don't expect to be able to do this. The older ones did, but they've removed the hidden feature now.
