Hi Berry,
If you want to check for Loopholes, on your remote push "Setup," then "Step," then "track reverse" then "track forward."
(Some say that you have to push down on your remote to "preferences" after hitting "Setup," then go to "Step," then "track reverse," then "track forward." but I never had to on the Apex with Loopholes that I had owned).
If anyone finds a Loophole on one of these, I'd be3 very very surprised. I seriously wouldn't buy one if that's all you are looking for. If you want a cheap but good DVD Player, then go!
In terms of the rebate on the CC Website, the part that refers to the store receipt is the "standard" CC blurb about it. The actual rebate form (the part that gets sent in...the part that looks like an actual scan of something "hard copy" says you have to have an Internet Receipt.
Details, details. A cut box and a stamp...not much to loose if you can get $50 though.
BTW, the $20 rebate expired on 12-2-00. For some reason, their website currently links to the *expired* rebate. You have to click on the general "rebates" link to find the $50 supposed "Internet Only" one. Very confusing to someone when it says "$99 DVD Player" then takes you to the actual page where the price is $149 and links the person to an expired, $20 rebate form.
