Apex AD-660 DVD/CD/MP3/VCD/SVCD player $99

Circuit City is substituting the AD-660 for the AD-500 that is advertized this week so all 3 models of Apex DVD players are $99 because the AD-600 is also $99. I paid $169 for mine (with the hidden menus) several months ago. I would have sold it on e*ay if they hadn't banned them. I am quite pleased with it so I just bought one for my brother for Christmas.

edit: about below--that's messed up dude. go to their regional sales mgr or write a little email (no cussing) to their site. they have this player all the time in the circulars for that price, so they should reap what they sow

I did it, got the 660. Tried DVD, VCD, SVCD, CD-R so far, all work without a hitch. SVCD's rewind when i hit fast forward for some reason, even though I exchanged units...

also, do you notice that when you pop a svcd in, it doesn't tell you the correct total time of the disc? looks like it calculates the time by looking at the size of the disc itself, and the time it gives is the time it would be if it were a vcd...

Went to local C.C. today. They had 8 of the Apex 600.

Someone was talking about checking your local C.C. stock via the net. I looked for the link on their website, but could not locate that info. Anyone think it is possible?

Also looked at the printed rebate cert, can't see where I might be able to get out the B&M with a 660 for $99.

I believe the reference to the in store ability is under "What qualifies as a receipt?"

What qualifies as a sales receipt?

The "Order Confirmation" you receive online at the conclusion of placing your order; or
The "Order Confirmation" email we send to you confirming your order; or
The Sales Receipt you receive in our store.

if you check on C.C.'s website where it says "In store/express pickup" you can select stores near you and it will tell you if they have the item you're looking for in stock.

Fleabay outlawed this particular item because of hidden menu features some of the older models had, such as turning off macrovision and region protecion.

Great site...are there any firmware updates or whatever which disable macrovision or region coding? And on another note, I think i'm happy that I didn't get an APEX 600A...sure, the 660 sucks with mp3's, but they have that problem with seamless branching. I haven't really played too many dvd's in my unit, but I haven't seen any problems yet...

You can buy it online, when you go to pick it up you can argue with them because it's $99 in-store, and if they refund your money you're still eligible for the rebate...dunno if it'll work, but post your experiences if you try it. I may do that if it pans out.

I got a 660A at the Barrett Parkway Store in Atlanta. The sales type offered it before I could ask for it. I even got a coupon book with rebates on DVD's, and video games.

Well... I went ahead and ordered online... I am going to press for a credit..... once I can get an ad or something from CC showing this at $99.

Anyone have a copy of an ad for this unit being sold at $99 (AD660)???
If so.... could you post a link?

Or if anyone has a copy of a sales receipt showing that they purchased this player for the $99.... would probably help wonders.

What do you think my success will be in fighting for the credit within the 30 day price protection policy that CC has??

I can't speak for the discount but i can vouch for the Price protection guarantee they have. I once bought a pair of Polk speakers and a DD Receiver.

The speakers went down $60 a day after i bought it, they gladly refunded me the amount.

The receiver also went down $50 a week after. They too refunded me that amount.

The nice thing i like about their Home Audio at least is that within 1 yr of purchasing speakers i can trade it in for the full price i bought it at, add a few more bucks and get myself a new set of speakers

And no. i'm no CC employee hehehe

Anyone that has a receipt showing that they paid $99 for the AD660.... can they please email me. Or the name of a sales person/manager that is aware that these are and have sold for $99.

I am having trouble getting CC to give the 660 to me for the $99 price. If I can show them that it has been sold for the $99... they will price match for me.

I purchased mine online (could not have sent to any local stores .... so had to have it direct shipped). I paid the $149.00.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Rebate issue:

Rebate says "purchase made between Dec 3, 2000 -Dec 9, 2000" qualify. Maybe I'm just looking to deep but does this mean you can only get the rebate if you purchase on the 4th thru the 8th? Or can I purchase today(9th) and still qualify? Between the 3rd and the 9th is the 4th thru the 8th, but I'm sure that's not what they mean. I think they mean Dec 3rd thru Dec 9th. But what do I know? Thanks for any help in clarifying this.
