APEX is not known for any sort of quality. If you're looking for an interim set, this might do it, but don't think this will last more than 3 years IMO
After seeing this deal, I went out to AVSForums to read about the pros and cons of RPTV, LCD RPTV, DLP RPTV, plasma etc and was seriously bummed to read about all the 'cons'
The deal breaker for me is burn in. I refuse to stretch a 4:3 image out to 16:9 (I hate the way it looks) *and* my TV runs on CNN for about 6hrs a day (sometimes more) These 2 things make me believe that I can't get a CRT RPTV. There is even one thread over there that says you should limit possible-burn-in-viewing to less than 15% of your total viewing time. Well, since CNN seems to be considered viewing that could create burn-in, I'm out of luck.
Since this is under $1000, I thought that this might be okay for a big TV that I'd only use for a couple years, but I've currently got a 28" that I've had since 1991, so the idea of ditching a TV after 3 years bothers me.
Any deals on a big 'old skool tube TV
