With the help of the omnipotent and amazing Kaido, I have finally completed my first hackintosh. This build is specifically going to be used as a HTPC for my new 50" Sammy Plasma running either Plex, XBMC or Boxee (or a combo of all 3)

Gigabyte G31M-ES2L Mobo
Intel E5200 2.5ghz Dual Core CPU
4gb OCZ PC6400 RAM
500GB Samsung HD
Sparkle 7200GS 256MB Video Card
Apex-PC-390 w/ 300w Power Supply

Using Kaido's tools couldn't have made the process easier. Set up the Bios, popped in his custom boot CD, then swapped for Leopard and installed. Once in Leopard, updated to 10.5.7, ran his custom kext installer, rebooted and voila, fully working hack in no time flat. Simply amazing.

Super psyched!

Pics of the setup will be coming shortly, need to tidy up some things around the TV

Nice.

If you decide to use plex, check out a program for your iPhone called Snatch. It'll let you use your iPhone as a remote over your wifi. It works pretty good.

Boxee has a dedicated remote app which is really quite good, but I found plex to be a better media center, at least for parsing my files, downloading the images and info etc.

Congrats, Aphex.

Hey Kaido, should your guide for the Gigabyte G31M-ES2L also work for the Intel BoxDG31PR (I think same basic chipset), give or take a different kext here or there for different audio chipset, etc.?

Go to S10lenovo.com and they'll help you get OS X 10.5.7 working on your S10e.

All depends on drivers - the ES2L kit has drivers specifically for the ES2L, so if that Intel board shares the same hardware, there's a good chance it will work.

(sounds like different integrated audio chipset, and possibly different LAN chip)

If worst comes to worst, you can always get a PCI NIC & USB sound card. The biggest problem is simply finding drivers, especially drivers that work and don't have bugs - sometimes it takes me *months* to get a board working in a stable manner, with all the features.

Been there and all the issues I seem to have no one has encountered before. Mostly with upgrading to 10.5.7. I performed an as close to retail install using their guides but it crashed after the update. Oh well, I just installed Windows 7 back on it. -_-; Plus 1024x576 is just too small for the menus in OS X.

Just curious, what version is your Leopard DVD?
