Should be interesting, Ascend Mate 7 looked really nice and their fingerprint scanner is fast. Stock Android should be nice. Comparison of Mate 7, iPhone and Samsung fingerscanner

Side note of Nexus. I'm really hoping Google doesn't something with Camera2API on the nexus 6. I'm really interested in a better camera, responsiveness, capturing quick photos, and varying video recording videos. All the top end Android devices and Apple have it. I'll probably drop the Nexus 6 later this year unless they do something with the Camera 2 API. I'm hoping 5.1.

Their watch looks good. Why not?

Heck the worst thing about these Chinese phones are the weird skins they put on and the lack of updates.

Hopefully this means the next Nexus will come back down in price. A sub-$500 Huawei Nexus with their SoC instead of Qualcomm's could be a winner.

I read about it this morning, too. But the article I read made it sound like Huawei-made Nexus will sell in developing markets (read: no LTE) while LG-made one will be for the LTE market.

What is the current flagship among Huawei's products?

Why not? Why anyone else?

I sort of wished LG had made the Nexus 6 instead of Motorola.

I sort of wished LG had made the Nexus 6 instead of Motorola.

Given that my 2 year old Nexus 4 that hasnt been abused, recently developed a huge dead spot on the digitizer along with LCD yellowing due to heat issue(surfing the damn web), I am glad they didn't.

I will get the Nexus 6 in the next few months. Lets see how that goes but Motorola did a great job on the 2013 motox which I have and love.

I was not pleased at first, but I've decided to reserve judgment until I actually hear something concrete.

While I tend to not care much for the cheap Chinese brands, this might elevate them. LG was absolute garbage before they started working with Google.

that's...that explains why it seemed like they popped up out of nowhere.

this is interesting.

I'd say the same can be said for most companies making Android devices. And some of these Chinese brands at least making a decent device. It seems they like to worsen the software though. I even made a post about that one (I.e. removing the app drawer).

As a Nexus device goes, I'd probably be ok with something from one of these Chinese brands since I'm sure they would be even worse with software updates than other brands, which isn't saying much.

Before anyone knock Huawei, check out the Ascend Mate 7.
I think its the best looking phone out right now.
It has a check mark to everything I'm looking for in phone except for their own SoC.
Had it had a Snapdragon in there. I would have bought one already.

I read very positive reviews of that phone @Amazon. Interesting. Looks sleek and more compact than the Nexus 6. Not exactly a cheap phone, though.

The worst thing about Chinese phones is their lack of availability if North America.

You say that but on the All About Android podcast they said the skin on the phone was brutal. Apparently some Huawei phones have a launcher that wouldn't let you replace it. If that is the case the Chinese can keep it. Until one of those companies offer a stock ROM with fast updates they will always be a second class option despite the hardware.

I heard that too. But if Huawei makes the next Nexus, it won't have a skin on it. And if their current phones are all but impossible to get here in North America, is their Nexus model going to be any more accessible? Look at the problems Moto has had with meeting demand. Huawei Nexus seems like epic failure to me.

In a interview a Huawei representative said something like: People in the USA trust Google, so we are going to put that on our phones when entering the USA market.

To bad we in Europe don't trust Google more then Huawei

...and what about your governments(especially if your are from the UK)?

Let me translate what I meant:
To bad Huawei isn't taking the same approach for Europe, instead of using their version of Android.

Smart move.

Prior to the Nexus 4 no one around here would even CONSIDER LG phones. Seriously I remember they had some pretty good looking models (like the 3D one) that basically we never discussed. The LG G2X burned (pun) a lot in this community early and it stuck. Then LG comes out with the Nexus 4, then the Nexus 5, and suddenly their G2 is a fan favorite and the G3 is actually considered.

If Huawei wants American nerds (aka the kind of people who normals look to for phone recommendations) to care about their phone then going Nexus is a sure bet.

My guess is it will be a cheaper type of nexus. It may look good but maybe not of the same quality as the nexus 6, so its possible build quality will be different. If it will be backed by google then it will sell. Although they have the nicest smart watch, who's going to buy it at 1k?
