I'm pretty much done worrying about other people's responses to my fish curry after reading this thread and what truly sealed the deal is this morning. Some guy came in and microwaved a bunch of bacon at lunch time for 2 BLTs. Not that I'm complaining about bacon, but the smell of bacon was even stronger than anything I've microwaved, even carried out into the hallways past the cafeteria.

Says you. I'd rather smell a fart for a few minutes than fish all day. Farting is a natural process that may be offensive to some but otherwise not harmful. Your fish falls in the same category.
It is clear you are one of those people that always have an excuse or an easy way to dismiss the opinions of others. I'm going to guess that you don't take constructive criticism well, that nothing is ever your fault and that people at work generally tolerate you but don't like you much.

I think so. Any smell which is offensive to employees whether it comes from food, shoes, clothing is disruptive and disturbs the work env.
You've asked and most people have responded that it is acceptable to heat most food in the microwave. They have said, time and again, that heating fish is a big office no-no. A Google search will show you many, many links to websites that basically say it is not OK to microwave fish at work because it is offensive.
My point is this: there are a lot of things that you can do (few people actually go to the restroom just to fart) but you should avoid the ones that offend people. Microwaving fish at works, by most accounts, is very offensive.
