Apparently RX 470 cards won't be available on June 29th?

I asked a few retailers in my country about the RX 470 availability, and the reply I got from most of them is that there is zero info, and one retailer said it won't be available until 1-2 months time. All of them are receiving RX 480 stocks and will sell that card at launch.

This, coupled with the fact that we've seen NOT A SINGLE leak of the RX 470 full card or box, leads me to believe that it won't launch on June 29th.

What do you make of this?

Hmm, I don't know about this, but do we know yet even what price(s) to expect for the 470? I am more interested in a higher end part, such as verga, 1080, or 1 or 2 higher end 480s.

Speculation is that it's a slightly cut down Polaris 10/RX 480 with an expected price around $149-159.

But no solid info yet. If the rumors are true it would be an even better value in terms of perf/$ than the RX 480.

All AMD said was some variants of the 480 would be available on June 29th. Nothing about release dates for 470 and 460. Going by history, I would bet 470 follows sometime towards the end of July.

Didn't AMD announce this at E3? Availability on the 29th? Unless some sites misreported it.

Most thoughts are that the 470 & 460 are a fused down part from the 480, since it doesn't meet the full 480 specs, so we are looking at how good (or bad) the yields are.
Lots of "bad" 480 chips would mean lots of 470 or 460 chips.

That also means, lots of good 480 chips means nothing is left for the 470/460 lines, so they would maximize their profits by only selling full 480 chips if the demand is strong, and not cripple them to be 470/460, until the demand for the 480 lowers a bit.

it's times like this that I am glad I live in the usa.

You should be thankful on a regular basis.

I think it would be good to release the 470 after the 480 as to not to steal it's thunder. The 460, OTOH, is supposed to be P11 I thought.

470 is fused 480. But 460 is almost certainly full Polaris 11.

Looks like yields are good on the 480. By how many retailers are reporting getting stock already. I don't expect 470 to be available anytime soon if they can sell most of what they make as 480. They will probably be stashing the cut down chips to sell as 470 ofcourse but expect a month or two to have a enough stock on those. I think this is basically due to 480 yields being good. After all it's a pretty small die. Looks like nvidia is the one having issues getting pascal ramped up, may be their choice to go with a bigger die on a new process is giving them a little pain. In time all will be fine ofcourse for them as well.

1070/80 not a bad comparison in some ways. I did think that the 1070 numbers in stock etc being rather lower than the 1080 implied decent 1080 yields, but having seen concrete numbers of stuff arriving at OcUK this week (on their forums), there are seemingly quite a few more 1070's than 80's, its just been manufacturing delay so far.

Presumably a lot of P11 production is going towards laptops/mobile chips rather than desktops, which would explain the 460 being a bit delayed.

Any info on when custom version will be available ?
I REALLY don't want to buy reference design.

Gibbo said he'd held the Sapphire version when he was in China a few weeks ago. So, they shouldn't be too far away. He says he only has reference cards at the moment though.
