It looks like good deal for me, considering that most Apple laptops are overpriced, this one looks right

No links, no stores, no specs, no special price = no deal.

But that is slightly thicker, doesn't come in white, and doesn't have an Apple logo on it. Why would I want to pay less for something with more functionality?

Note: Sarcasm.

I've been eyeing that same laptop for a while now. I have one of the 14" TimelineX laptops and it is very nice.

It's very far from being a netbook. Yes, it's C2D, not newer Core iX, but it's still a very capable processor that's at least twice as fast as Atom CPUs. As others have pointed out if you're impartial to Apple Logo and OSX and can live with slighly bigger machine, there are slightly bigger laptops with 11.6-12.1" screens that are better equipped and lower priced, but new MacBook Air is not a netbook.
