Thought I would make a thread regarding the apple announcement today. Its pretty much a forgone conclusion that they are announcing the iPad mini. The event is in less than an hour!

Apple is streaming the event:
http://www.apple.com/apple-events/october-2012/

Other LiveBlogs:
http://www.engadget.com/2012/10/23/apple-ipad-mini-liveblog/

http://live.gizmodo.com/

I'll link some more liveblogs if you guys have any suggestions.

Personally I think they will announce the iPad mini starting at the $299 price point. I hope they also announce a 13" retina display macbook pro. Might have to finally upgrade my 2 year old macbook air!

This is just a general warning to people to contribute useful information to the thread. This is a technical forum, and the moderators here at Anandtech have little patience with trolling. Please keep your posts on-topic and constructive. I'll put up the same thing next week for the Google announcement thread.

why does *this* event get streamed but not the iPhone 5?

I imagine it's just Apple finally realized how silly it is of them not to stream these events. I'm sure the next iPhone event will be streamed too.

any way to stream it on a windows pc?

the site says "Live streaming video requires Safari 4 or later on Mac OS X v10.6 or later; Safari on iOS 4.2 or later. Streaming via Apple TV requires second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 5.0.2 or later."

retarded.

lol, it would be very apple-esque to only allow streaming on mac based computers.

They're weird. They did live stream some events several years and then stopped for some reason.

I didn't think anyone really cared about the event. New iPad, new Macs, zzzzzzzzz

It wouldn't be an apple thread without the usual haters. Thanks for the incredible insight!

The Apple stream actually would not work on my iMac (Safari, 10.6.8). It just keeps buffering. Not sure why.

Big yawn on the Mac Mini update. Dual-core i5, 4GB RAM and 500GB standard for $600.

It amazes me that there is people in this world that not only watch this crap but also go there in person.

Really sad.

But more power to apple

I must say, as much as I think apple is the ultra douche, the imac looks nice. Even tho there is zero user upgradability its cool that they glued it all in such a thin package.

No Retina on the iMac. They swapped desktop CPUs for mobile CPUs to make it thinner. Now it truly is a monitor with a Mac Mini strapped to the back.

man the iPad just dominates the tablet space. It's not even a competition. These stats are pretty impressive.

I know a forum post on here stated that the iPad is down to 50% marketshare. I highly doubt there have been 100,000,000 android tablets sold.
