Blah Blah Blah...are you done?

Thanks for the rant...

Who's anxiously waiting for flipboard. It actually works just fine on Android tablets. In fact I have it loaded on my TF700 but don't touch it. You'd have to sideload it or install from the amazon app store, but it works. The interface isn't that great because it's not made for landscape view.

I'm done anyway. You use what you want ok and complain when something doesn't work when it's fine. Ever think maybe it's the various carriers that add their own junk to the devices that causes certain problems? I'd bet that's the first problem. Google has very little real control over what comes loaded on a device that's sold through AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or whatever else.

Once again, have you used Flipboard on the iPad? IT looks like this:

This is what Flipboard looks like on the iPhone and Android phones

Night and day difference. The above picture is also what you see on an Android tablet. Useful right? Blown up. I've used it on my HP TouchPad. You think I don't know? If you've used Flipboard on the iPad it's NO CONTEST. The interface isn't great as you said because there is no tablet specific one on Android.

I'm not complaining about anything about the carriers with these devices. I use non branded devices and I root them ASAP to get rid of bloatware. I do hate the carriers, yes, but the reason my devices don't run as well as I'd like them to isn't because of the carriers.

You sound like a hypocrite to me.

Also, I would not want to live with someone who judged me just because I have a near-empty FB profile because I value my privacy and don't trust Zuckerberg and his lock-in shenanigans, past FB security breaches, and past genius moves like FB Beacon.

Google+? Maybe.. jury is out.

Facebook? F*** Facebook. Zuckerberg himself thinks you're a dumb f***. "They 'trust me.' Dumb f***s." Literal quote by the CEO of FB. http://www.businessinsider.com/well...s-wont-help-facebooks-privacy-problems-2010-5
Maybe it's the demographics I deal with? I think Asians tend to be on Facebook more. Social networking is huge in Asia. Maybe it's that my college was 50% Asian. After going out with friends and meeting new friends, you can guarantee you get a Facebook invite afterwards. After going out and taking pics, you can guarantee those pics are making it on Facebook.

Look, I know not everyone comes from the same time period, but that's how things were done when I was in college. But yes, I notice Asians in general tend to be on Facebook far more than caucasians or any other ethnic group. But given the environment I was in, yeah, it's an anomaly if you didn't have a Facebook account. I'm not saying it's a guaranteed sign of weirdness, but it does raise some flags. It's like if Engadget was in the market for hiring a writer, and an applicant says "Sorry I don't have a cell phone # to give you," it certainly raises flags. The stereotypical Engadget writer must have like 5 phones and 3 laptops probably...

All this arguing over Flipboard. . It's a pretty and slick app on the iPad but I prefer Pulse for both phone and tablet.

Mini is too pricy for me. I rather pay extra and get the new iPad or go cheaper and get the Nexus 7.

I'm sure most of the debate has been on the new iPads, but I'm glad to see the new Retina MBP...looks like it's time to upgrade.

Yeah, seriously. I prefer Pulse myself as well. I like that I can see 15 article headers right there on one screen, and I definitely don't need my feeds to look like a magazine. Function > Form.

Back to topic, I may have skipped some posts because of the constant bickering, but I was confused a little bit watching the announcement when at the end they came up with the comparison of the mini vs. iPad 2 vs. iPad 4th gen and how their prices are. Where is the iPad 3rd gen a.k.a. 'The new iPad?'. Is Apple actually discontinuing it? That doesn't make any sense.

Pulse make ssense for a phone where you can't see that much. Yes you get to see more articles, but on a tablet, that's where Flipboard shines. You can get form AND function. Yes you can use Pulse and see like 50 articles instead of 6, but I think 6 is enough. Much better than the 1 you see on Flipboard for phone. There's a limit right? It's like a newspaper. You could put 3 words for all the articles on the front page of your newspaper, but then what's the point? A few articles like 4-5 is sufficient. Otherwise you flip.

I'm sure it's personal preference. I don't doubt a lot of people prefer Flipboard than everything else out there. I know I like Pulse more. I'm not going to try to change Flipboard's fans mind

iPad 3 is being discontinued I think. Probably the shortest life of any Apple product I've seen in recent memory. Good news is Apple is clearing it out and you can pickup refurb from Apple for $379.

Damn. That's what I got based on the presentation too (discontinued), I just thought it was confusing that Apple discontinued the 3 but will still be selling the 2.

I just browsed around and there's already someone raging about it: http://mashable.com/2012/10/23/ipad-3-owner-oped/

Now that Apple has moved to 6 month product cycles on the iPad line, if anyone wants an iPad Mini with an A6 chip and 1GB RAM instead of the 18-month-old A5 chip and 512MB RAM, just wait until March. iPad Mini with A6X and Retina next October.

This. I'm an Apple guy, I like their HW designs and iOS, but the iPad Mini is a snooze and it's overpriced. Bleh.

That's pretty funny ... all those poor Applie Ipad 3 users only got 6 months to look cool and look down on the peeps with the pad2! hahaha

Man, now apple is gonna ask the peeps that shelled out 500+ to shell out some bones for the 4! Hey isn't technology great? Maybe they can sell the 3 to gather up enough cash for a mini? hmmmm... Glad I didn't invest in apple when buying my tablet(s).

First off, it was around 8 months. Second, Android tablets get outclassed every 1-3 months so I don't know why you are so happy. Third, they didn't really update anything major besides the processor and made it fast. The iPad 3 users get the same battery life, same resolution screen, same looking device so I don't how this incremental update affects anything.

Doubling the CPU and GPU performance: major upgrade
FaceTime HD camera: major upgrade
Faster WiFi: minor upgrade
Better LTE support: minor upgrade

Apple crushed the resale value of the iPad 3 very quickly, however. Not sure if their iFans will be happy about that:
Before the event ended, Gazelle.com was willing to give me $550 for my 64GB Verizon LTE iPad 3. That’s nearly $300 less than I paid seven months ago. In a normal, yearly cycle, a $300 loss might be acceptable. After just seven months (I’m still within Apple’s original warranty period), it’s harder to stomach. Right before publishing this article, I decided to check Gazelle again. Now, the company is offering just $350 for a 64GB LTE iPad 3. I refuse to take a $500 loss to upgrade to a new device.

Yeah because there aren't android tablets being updated every 2 weeks.....

Even if a $199 Nexus 7 is updated in 6 months, it's not as big of a deal compared to a $499 iPad 3 getting updated in 6 months.

What about the tablets released by Asus multiple times because they were idiots and made an entire aluminum shell with no window? I'd be über pissed.

Difference is- you don't see the non iOS devout defending those products nor championing them like you do for anything Apple produces. BTW- 40% of your list were downgrades overall.

What are you whiffeling about now?

I just installed currents and it logged into my account and pulled my feeds up pretty instantaneously.

Nice ranting though, full marks for totally not being grounded in reality or even being consistent in your criticisms of others.

No one is championing the iPad mini, I would have preferred it to be 250$ but the fact of the matter is it gives an option to those who prefer iOS and are heavily invested in the ecosystem. The retina display is nice to look at but I was always envious of the Nexus 7 small form factor and i beleive that Android for tablets is still not "there" yet.

I like the idea of the iPad Mini as a carputer. Put an anti-glare screen protector on there, and put in 4G. Boom. Plus I can use Guided Access and Parental Controls to lock it down to just Music and Maps so that way neither I, nor the passengers can be messing with Facebook or anything while driving. Siri for voice command.

Mmmm, I like this plan. I am thinking the black on black one, that thing is sex.

People don't buy the newest Android device for status.

Lame. I see android fans salivating at every new device and go through devices like toilet paper. I also hear them complain about apples slow update cycle and now they complain about it being too fast.
